Seemed like more. But like i said lasts games attendance was a fluke.

Seemed like less to me. Now, there were 13,000 gang bangers partying on Virgina Street.

THIS CRAP IS REALLY GETTING A LITTLE OLD.

Our parking is in Lot C5, at the corner of Virginia E. Lavaca and MLK. All we saw on our way to the stadium was a lot of nice people having a good time, even a little tailgating going on. I'm anything but a "Gang Banger"...retired financial analyst for the #4 Global 500 company. I didn't see anybody I would term as a "gang banger" on the way to the stadium.

I missed the corner with the trash when walking back to the parking lot. We walk by Virginia on the way back to the car. Just a few questions. Are there dumpsters in that area like those in the main tailgating areas? Also, I think the "Kid Zone" is in that vicinity. It's located in the lot across from the Subway?

Back to the question, Official Attendance was 13,452. That puts us at #23 in FCS average attendance for the season and tops in the SLC. McNeese is nipping at our heels at #24 with 12, 225 while Sam Houston is close at #29. Interesting to note that all three of us are ahead of FBS Akron, San Jose State, and Eastern Michigan in average attendance. We, meaning LU, are also ahead of transitioning UMass. I still feel bad about missing the SELA game. That one brought our average down.

Other observations:

1. Attendance - Looked like a nice, energetic contingent in the student area, but there was room for a lot more. For those there, it looked like they were having a good time with the "Thunder Sticks" sponsor BASF / Total handed out for the game. There were a lot of people on our side enjoying the "Thunder Sticks" also.

Looking around our side, we had a nice crowd around us, but there were gaps in the seating. There was room for more.

2. Game: Sucks that Herschel Sims got hurt, but I have no problem with Coach Woodard leaving him in to try to get his 100 yards. He had some nice runs prior to the injury. Depauldrick Garret had nice runs also, especially his 35 yard touchdown run. Kevin Johnson's 88 yard kickoff return energized the crowd. It was a nice answer to McMurry's field goal. I got to see some nice touchdowns from our 25 yard line vantage point. The three Caleb Berry to Kevin Johnson touchdown passes as well as Brandon Thomas's 53 yard touchdown interception return were in front of us. I'm not much of a detail fan of the game, but Joe Okafor's quarterback hurry was one that sticks out. Of course, 6' 6" and 295 lbs with number 35 is hard to miss. :) There were some nice hits by others. As a lot of us know and have stated, there is still room for improvement on the team, but I like being in the stands on Saturdays.

3. Schedule: Since we are playing one more game this year vs the normal FCS schedule of 11, scheduling McMurry is ok with me. McMurry is a transitioning DII team that beat UTSA last year 24-21. I thought it might be a "trap" game for us. I'm glad it wasn't. It gave our team an opportunity to get some folks in game conditions that might otherwise not have played.

4. Atmosphere: I like the game day atmosphere. There's a lot more than the old days when we just went to the stadium, parked, watched the game, and left. Reddy Kilowatt was great in his day, but the scoreboard we have now really adds to the atmosphere. Wish they would light up the cardinals at the top of the scoreboard, though. Cannon is nice. Fireworks at halftime were a treat. Since we haven't started tailgating yet, we usually get in the stadium about an hour or so before the game. I still enjoying walking by all the tailgaters and smelling the delicious food they are cooking. Some of the sound systems I hear would make a nice addition to the stadium sound system. Nice bass on some of those systems. :) With our early seating, we still got to watch football on the scoreboard and then listening to music while watching the teams warm up. Popcorn and cokes were good. Nachos that some of the fans around us made me wish I wasn't supposed to be on a low sodium diet.

5. End of game: It's a nice touch to see the John and Mary Gray library lit up in red after a win. Also, it really is nice to be able to leave the stadium and be back to my sister's house in about 10 minutes. After living in Houston for over 20 years where it takes at least 20 minutes to get anywhere, travel in the Triangle is a welcome temporary change.

6. Night vs Afternoon Game: I prefer night games like most of the others who have commented on this board. I hope the AD will move back to night games in future seasons. Night games just seems more like football to me. I understand the need for an afternoon kickoff when the game is televised on the SLC network. Other activities fit in better with a night kickoff both at the game and for those with conflicting afternoon commitments like youth soccer league, etc. There are some advantages with an afternoon game, but I think the night game advantages outweigh them.

I for one enjoyed the weekend.

Maybe I missed the corner with the trash when walking back to the parking lot. I didn't see much when we pulled out of our lot though...must have been another lot.

We won't be hearing from cardinal for a while!

I know you are a mod but it seems like a little bravado to post what you did about Cardinal!!

I gave him a warning and he deliberately made 4 or 5 posts right after that just for spite. We let him bring up the same crap for months and instead of cooling it he turned it up a notch. We give people a lot of leeway around here but there are limits. He dared us to ban him by his actions so we did.

So this is the first banning in the history of this site, pretty good track record if you ask me. This place has been around for 2.5 years now. Don't even know what he said but Cardinal really couldn't leave that one subject alone and it was bothering several posters not just me or coach.
