red rover
We may not all agree on our coaches or their schemes but I think one thing we all agree on is if you are writing on this board you care about Lamar Football. Attendance for these games is not that important to the coaches as it is for these kids. If they win or lose they still have to work hard at what they do. They are up early for workouts, go to classes, meetings, then studyhall to keep grades up and then night practices. There is not much free time for a college athlete. We may not support some of our coaches or their decisions but come out to a nice stadium and support some very fine young athletes. They deserve it....I'll be there!!! This might be the best post I have read on this board in my short time here. These young men work hard win or lose lets show our support. lu cards
and another thing.lamar needs to wake up to a few things. 1.dont televise home games 2.dont kick off before 6pm it kills tailgating and attendance(tell slc to keep there tv game) 3.more ticket and fan specials dont get me wrong lamar has done a good job bringing back football.just wanted to point out some obvious things to get even more people there.go cards!!! jdcurran235
It wouldnt kill tailgating if there was things going on after the game. Like concerts and other stuff. Gotta treat it like mardi gras in a sense. Set up an rv area were people can spend the night

I guess they stopped doing the fireworks this year?

It let's you get up on Saturday and get a couple of things done. Then got tailgate for 5+ hours if you want. Nice evening temperature...it is awesome. Just think back to a few years ago when we didn't have football. It is awesome to go out and watch a college football game in person. The kids do bust their butts for LU and I appreciate it...but, I will still be a fan(atic). I've only missed 2 home games since football has come back and neither of those was because of the weather. Anyway, it is a great time. And it is fun sitting on here chatting about it. Beats the hell outta no football. And two years from now when we are playing for the national championship it will be even more fun.
Damm16
Youngmen that have to live though this nightmare of a deal. Seeing one of the best facilities in FBS & FCS truly troubles me, I have a son on the team that had offers from several FBS schools who did not compare other then they were bigger facilities but, he chose Lamar because at that time the recruiting game was full blown, fluff jobs were flying high from big schools but the Lamar coaches made him & my family feel at home. I am a newbee at Lamar, I have been to every game at home and on the road. It pains me to see such good hard working kids not given a fair chance to grow we could run this confence the foundation is there yet with all the inside stuff going on bad grammar toward players poor scout preparation etc... Its just not working. We have such a nice place to have a program, nice field, locker room, practice gear, helmets, uniforms etc... It's like buying a new car Lexus-BMW, that has no engine just show & no go. Please all who care to support the kids & Lamar please, be proactive about the coaching situation that we are dealing with. All this negative energy can only tear down the program. Now you know how we as adults who care can help let make something change for the good of the program. " I would always tell my players, show what you can do not with your words on the field but with your actions" In short less talking and more positive response on how we smarter adults on line here can put our info into a plan that will change Lamar football for the better. (WORD OF MOUTH TRAVELS, SO FAST AND CAN WORK FOR YOU). LET'S WORK TOGETHER .. I am just saying... Food for thought..?
puddin tane
your post confuse me..on one hand "poor prep..its not working".."new car, no engine",,,the next its "be proactive towards the coaches", "be positive" covering your bases on that post I have always supported the team...doesnt mean i have to be a silent sheep....coaching staff is not doing their job...I say this today, and i will say it Saturday while sitting in my seats i paid good money for. you wanna drive that lexus..or just have it sit in the driveway for the next couple of years? dirtybird
I kind of uderstand what Damm is saying. Its hard to keep a possitive aptitude when your loosing. And its easy for grown ups to start trash talking a program. Then the kids start hearing all the trash, and start giving up. Its gonna be tough for Coach Woodard to turn things around, Its even tougher with people bad mouthing him and the Lamar players.
Guest LU 17
Damm, you see all the negativity towards the coaches as tearing the program down. I see it as helping your son possibly have a chance to play for a staff that can this turn this program around. Harsh remarks are from the passionate fans at LU we didn't have before we dropped football. Trust me, before the start of this season and every season since the program started back, fans on BRI wanted to believe in every coach LU has employed. We wanted wins or progress. We have a couple of non impressive wins, but more importantly, no progress. It may seem like we are negative, but it's only because we want our program to show progress. It has not! Do you want to get rid of the coaching staff or keep them? I am glad you and your son chose Lamar and I hope he enjoys it. But, I too am confused by your post. Damm16
In short form Cardinal my friend, :) let's have a plan to get new coaches if this season flips upside down completely. So all I am saying is be at whatever meeting that takes places at the end of the season. It's very easy to find out all the wrong stuff going on. Try to put some of that same effort into putting whatever good that the players & coaches are doing out there just as much, they also read this site. So bring you new plans to the President, AD, or Ray just have a solution that will work and match up positive comments with your negative ones.. 8)
Spooner
Damm16-- I am sure that average fans will have little say in any coaching moves after the season. Coach Woodard is likely going to benefit from Dr. Simmons' retirement in that I doubt the college is willing put much emphasis or resources toward a coaching search when they are already searching for a new president. Guest CardAmbassador
It wouldnt kill tailgating if there was things going on after the game. Like concerts and other stuff. Gotta treat it like mardi gras in a sense. Set up an rv area were people can spend the night I still don't understand why we don't do RV's for Lamar home games, you have to sell the entire experience, make it an entire weekend package. McNeese does it, why can't we? I've heard the explanation before and it was weak, Lamar can make this happen I know they can.

If you like the coaches, don't like the coaches because the coaches are not unlikeably likeable. They are competently incompetent but fortunately they are competent incompetent competent. If you do like waht they are not doing or undoing or knowlingly not knowingly doingly undoing then you can easily not find out what isn't is going on. So don't be unnegatively negative and do don't make the meetings to not let the nicely unnicely competent coaches whom competently incomepetently coach the goodness into the players. P.S. The kids are being paid to play a game. It is their job. The coaches are being paid to coach. It is their job. If they don't like it they can all quit. That is the beauty of America.
