Guest CardAmbassador
I actually feel ok about this game. The last two years we have played them close. Last year we were in that game until about the 4th Q with 5 minutes left, then they scored like 3 TDs on pick 6s to win.
coachacola
I thought McNeese would handle UTSA pretty easily. McNeese really doesn't have much to play for but with Moss out I don't think the LU offense will do much. Hope Berry proves me wrong. LUSportsFan
We need to stop the big gains on the run. I thought that was our weakest point in Saturday's game. McNeese is #21 in FCS rushing offense this year so it looks like it is one of their strong points. On the defense side, McNeese is #10 in FCS rushing defense. Another thing I hope we improve on is cutting out the penalties. We give up way too many yards and keep way too many drives alive with penalties. I thought Berry did pretty well in Saturday's game, but he only threw 5 passes (3-5 for 26 yards). I think we used the run to protect the lead once Berry came in. McNeese's record is a little deceptive with 2 one point losses (UCA and SELU). I'm still looking / hoping for a game a little closer than the computers predict. Guest Cardinalrule
Since the students don't go to the games. Since the alumnae don't go to games. Since the administration won't support a campus life. Since the administration keeps scheduling afternoon games. Since the band only learns one halftime performance. Since our student body held an Obama rally in the Setzer Center. Since our coaches won't pass the ball with Berry in the game. Since half our team is going to quit: McNeese 70 LU

LUSportsFan Why do you think we would need to use the run to protect a lead when Berry comes in. Thought was that when Mossakowski was sacked and then clobbered on the intercepted pass the next play taking him out of the game that the offensive game plan changed once Berry came in. It appeared to me that Nicholls had either made some adjustments in their pass rush that were working or they just changed strategy and decided to rush. Once they did that, it didn't appear that our line was protecting the QB as well as it should. I understood running the ball initially when Berry came in just to let him get into the game with his head, but he ended up only having 5 pass plays the whole time he is in vs Mossakowski's 24 passes. The scoring drive we had after Berry came in consisted of 12 rushing plays and 3 of the 5 pass attempts, all completions. As a comparison, the two series that Mossakowski had prior to his injury included 8 passes vs 2 rushes. (Some of Berry's long runs might have been scrambles out of pass plays, couldn't tell from where I was sitting.) Good news is that we were making good yardage on the run and burning a lot of clock at the same time. We burned 8:35 of the clock with Berry's scoring drive. Not counting the 3 "Victory Formation plays" at the end of the game, we had 16 rushes vs 5 passes total with Berry. We had 19 rushes vs 24 passes with Mossakowski in the game. It worked and our line and running backs got some good game time practice with the rushing game. I'm not second guessing anyone. It just seemed like our strategy changed once Mossakowski was hurt. With Berry's first 3 passes as completions, it did not appear that he was having any issues with throwing and completing.
lcard05
Pretty much was told they have more options with Moss. Things are a lot more slowed down and simplified for Berry. that looks obvious to me.
