Big T Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 A guy I know and I have both spoke to him. He told both of us the same thing that he is staying at Lamar and is expecting to be eligible to play next year. Quote
Mike Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Thanks Nation, after speaking to Coach Woodard during the Spring practices he told me that Johnson had a few things he needed to take care of to satisfy the staff but he was pretty confident and hopeful that he'd be a part of the team before the start of the season. Card Nation Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Nation, after speaking to Coach Woodard during the Spring practices he told me that Johnson had a few things he needed to take care of to satisfy the staff but he was pretty confident and hopeful that he'd be a part of the team before the start of the season. That is very encouraging to hear. I saw him at the Spring Game and he looked to be in very good shape and ready to play. Quote
coachacola Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Did he ever get Midol for his headaches? You are still nothing but a classless troll. Quote
nickels Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Did he ever get Midol for his headaches? You are still nothing but a classless troll. Aw com'on, I've seen Lamar posters post way worse about KJ. Quote
coachacola Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Did he ever get Midol for his headaches? You are still nothing but a classless troll. Aw com'on, I've seen Lamar posters post way worse about KJ. He's been hospitalized because of his migraine headaches. Dogging a player because of his attitude or off-field behavior is one thing, but not health issues. Quote
BigNasty92 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Would you really expect any different from that douche bag? Quote
Card Nation Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 Did he ever get Midol for his headaches? You must understand the backlash. We all make mistakes, just like your post. He is just a human being trying to navigate this life just like me and you brother. Quote
QB 22 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 You must admit he is a liability. He came with baggage and the migranes. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Hope it works out but a lot of questions still to be answered. Quote
Card Nation Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 I have to admit, i dont know him at all. but i like to root for the underdog. And based on commentary on this board and where he came from, etc. he definitely has an uphill battle ahead of him. From the games i saw last year. he appeared to be a play maker though. Poor attitude yes, playmaker yes. Hopefully he can get it together, but if he is a liability then Lamar should part ways. From the sounds of it he will be on a short leash from here on. I agree with u that it will be interesting to see how this plays out Quote
QB 22 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Trust me there are a lot of great players in the playgrounds for whatever reason could not conform to rules. I personally do not see him as an underdog lu gave him a second chance and he chose to berate and belittle the coaching staff. Like I said if he plays the entire schedule I will personally apologize but I do not see it happening!! Quote
Card Nation Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Kevin Johnson : Southland conference newcomer of the year, honorable mention wide out and kick returner as a sophomore. Set the single season scoring record with 12 td's. I didn't know this either. He is a playmaker... A liability??? I respectfully disagree. I think we all want to win more games ... We need him. We need him as physically and emotionally healthy as we can get him. He is an underdog due to his personal struggles and inability to deal with adversity without making a mess. Character, respecting authority, integrity are taught and learned and not indiscriminately granted to some people and not others. I guarantee that he wants to be a better person. ... There is no doubt in my mind about that. We as Lamar supporters should try to support this kid as well as other athletes who struggle on a personal level. 'Berate and belittle' sounds very harsh. Im not refuting your point QB. I totally Can a player belittle a coach?? I say no. If he belittled teammates then i would be totally on board with you. But getting into it with a coach... It happens. He got suspended... He is paying the price. Quote
BigNasty92 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Honest question...What "second chance was he given and what "baggage" did he come in with? Did he leave OkSt on bad terms? I thought he just wanted to be closer to home (unlike that convicted punk thief, Hershel Sims) Quote
Card Nation Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Good question. I dont know. I could find nothing negative in the newspaper articles... Only positives about him. One article stated simply that he just wanted to leave and that Ok. st. Released his scholarship ....nothing more. he was not redshirted as a freshman and he was a backup. Maybe that had something to do with it. Quote
Lamarcard81 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 FYI Hershel Sims practiced with ACU this Spring and sitting out this year. If that was common knowledge...sorry. Quote
BigNasty92 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I saw that, too. I thought about posting it a while back but didn't want to give him any attention. Quote
QB 22 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 We.will see as the season progresses, heard same thing about last year and his baggage was the headaches that causes him to be liability because no one including himself knows when he will be deemed unable to play. Not his fault just the way it is. Quote
Card Nation Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 Regarding Sims: http://m.reporternews.com/news/2013/feb/06/acu-coach-believes-abilene-high-great-sims-a-fit/ Here is the article about sims where ACU coach tries to explain his rationale of taking Sims and how now Sims is a good fit for there program. It kind of sounds like he is trying to convince himself that he is making the right decision by taking Sims. Maybe if he says Sims is a good fit enough times then he will be.... Year 1; steals money from a teammate Year 2: walks out on his team Abilene "Christian" coach says Sims is a good fit for their program. All i can say is 'you have got to be kidding me'. Go ahead coach, just keep on saying he is a good fit...... Quote
Card Nation Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 KJ has been reinstated and will be with the team beginning at the end of summer. Reportedly, KJ has done everything required and demanded of him during this suspension period. He understands his mistakes and the resulting punishment which he said was actually warranted based on his actions. He is thankful and grateful for the opportunity and privilege to rejoin his team and to be a Lamar Cardinal. Apparently this was a huge endeavor taken on by, KJ, kJ's family, and the coaches to work through this. If Lamar is gonna turn this ship around.... Figuring out a 'positive' solution to this problem is an important step in the right direction., IMO. Good work all!!! Now its up to KJ to follow through and prove his maturity. Quote
justwinbaby06 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Kevin Johnson : Southland conference newcomer of the year, honorable mention wide out and kick returner as a sophomore. Set the single season scoring record with 12 td's. I didn't know this either. He is a playmaker... Were you at the games??? At least 90% of those TDs were handed to him. The plays that got the ball into TD range were made by other players and then the ball was given to KJ as was the TD. Yes, he made some good plays. But, he showed no heart. As far as his migraines .... Putting the kid down for something he cannot control is weak... Very very weak.... If that is all you've got to call him out for follow the rule.... It's better to be thought a fool than to prove yourself one! Quote
