jdcurran235
I never see advertisements in mid county for Lamar football. It should be getting promoted there since most people in mid county are only 15 minutes from campus.
LUcardinal2013
What are you all talking about? I am a May graduate of LU currently looking for a job, and am still hanging around the area. I disagree with a lot of what has been said on this thread. I have heard and seen many LU football commercials/radio spots, especially in recent days. I have also seen magazine/newspaper ads. I really like their TV commercial that is currently up on their website and facebook page. Having been at Lamar for 5 yrs, I can say things have improved greatly within the past year or two for students.

Having been at Lamar for 5 yrs, I can say things have improved greatly within the past year or two for students. Thanks for linking the video. I saw it also when checking the lamarcardinals.com website and meant to add a link to it on this site. Congratulations on your graduation. It's great to have another alumni member. I know this is an exciting time. I hope your career will be as rewarding and fun as mine was. Most of the time I felt guilty for getting paid because I enjoyed the work so much. I took the money in spite of that though. I've been a big supporter of Lamar because I've always thought the education I received enabled me to do the work that I loved. I would be interested in seeing what the points of disagreement are. I haven't really seen that much negativity in this thread. There is some speculation as to how many tickets we'll sell, but we have that every year. I think the point about the 3 year options ending last year is a valid one. It's a concern of mine. My main concern is a perception of some expecting success now and dropping support until we have it. To me, that is backwards reasoning. My brother-in-law dropping his season tickets because of our first two home games was disappointing to me. (I did renew my season tickets and am looking forward to the fall.) I'd like to see us move to scheduling only D-I schools, but I see the first two home games as an opportunity to work out kinks and try things before getting into the conference schedule. The games are also sandwiched between two D-I FBS roadtrip games so I see benefit of the team playing in a friendly environment in the midst of those two games. I really like the Stand as One" theme this year. That was one of the reasons I posted a link to the splash screen. There were some comments about using Microsoft 2007, but so what. The message was good and it caught my eye. My concern was that the promo's weren't confined to the lamarcardinals.com website. That triggered my questions about local promotions. I asked about promotions in the local area because I don't live in the area. I haven't seen anything in west Houston, but I don't expect to. A lot of other comments were about game day experiences and re-upping on season tickets. I'm glad to hear about the promotions. I've enjoyed attending the games the last couple of seasons as I did in the "old days". With all the choices folks have these days, I think an aggressive campaign is needed to get the message across. I think Lamar football is a great way to spend a Saturday evening. I just hope that an adequate effort is made to communicate the opportunity. With the radio spots, magazines, newspapers it sounds like there is a good effort. Are the local TV stations on board? One of the best promotions that I have seen included the local TV station sportscasters. Their reports and updates helped fuel interest. At least they fueled mine. I'm thrilled that things have improved for students. It would be great to see the east side filled with students. I think there has been good representation in the last few seasons, but there's nothing better than one side of the stadium full of energetic students. That can help energize us old geezers. :)
LUSportsFan
Nice report and video about the start of season ticket sales on Fox4 KBTV. http://www.fox4beaumont.com/sports/features/local-sports/stories/lamar-football-season-tickets-available-41.shtml
LUSportsFan
Another thing I like about Lamar Football... Since we drive to the games from out of town, my wife and I like to use the football season as an opportunity to visit relatives in the Triangle area and possibly plan some events with them. I was looking at the event calendar for the Beaumont Visitor & Convention Bureau this afternoon to get some ideas for the upcoming season. The only thing I can say is that THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA and a lot of things coming up. http://www.beaumontcvb.com/ I know folks who grew up in the area at least should know of the entertainment opportunities, but it is good to look at them from the prospective of someone not familiar with the area from time to time. A lot of times people don't consider staying close to home for their entertainment. It's easy to do. I've done the same thing. For a change, just try playing like a tourist in your local area. There is a lot to offer just about anywhere. At least, that's been my experience when living on all three coasts (Georgia, California, Texas/Louisiana), Oklahoma, Louisiana, as well as in Beaumont and now Houston. Back to the Lamar games... ...If you have the time, you could use the football game as the "anchor" and plan other things around it...kind of like a mini-vacation. At least, that's one of the things I like to do and plan on doing this year.

LUSportsFan
For anyone like me who prefers the online option, here's a link to the Online Ticket Sales site. Green Section, White Section, and General Admission season ticket purchases are available. As before, once you have determined which section you would like and the amount, you can make a seat selection. https://www.ticketreturn.com/prod2/team.asp?SponsorID=5506#.UbcutM425TM I'm providing the direct link because it saves from having to access at least 5 screens in between and bypasses a confusing calendar screen noting that no events are available. In other words, the online purchase page is hidden pretty well. :) I noticed that slots for three of the parking lots can also be purchased online this year. A5 - $100.00 per slot - North half of big lot adjacent to the Montagne Center C5 - $50.00 per slot - Lot near adjacent to Dishman Art Museum and Univeristy Theatre (corner of East Lavaca and MLK Access Road). E5 - $50.00 per slot - Between Mary & John Gray Library and Plummer Administration Building
LUSportsFan
Looks like some tweaks to the stadium seating chart this year. There may be others, but it looks like the LU Band is moving higher. If I recall correctly, I think the band was in section E106 before. Also, it looks like the reserved sections in the east side of the stadium have changed to general admission. width=500 height=350http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/lama/sports/m-footbl/auto_original/7094869.jpeg[/img]
LUSportsFan
Just wondering if Flex Paks are going to be offered this season. The three game Flex Paks offered last year seemed like a good way to get some more fans in the stands; particularly those who couldn't commit to the full season. I'm all for different ways to get more fans in the stands. Personally, I'd be all for any type of promotion that would get more fans in the stands. There were a few last year that looked like pretty good deals for families. Looking back through some of last year's posts, the Athletics Department started offering them on July 18th last year. I haven't seen anything about that type of package for this year.
LUSportsFan
Looks like single game ticket sales will start up tomorrow based on the linked official online Ticket Sales webpage. https://www.ticketreturn.com/prod2/team.asp?SponsorID=5506#.Ufkg0sU25TM

LUSportsFan
One thing I noticed about this year's Flex Pak offer is that you can pick ANY three games. Last year offered two selections of three pre-selected games in each. With the ability to make your own selection of games, this year's Flex Pak offer looks like a great way to select an a la carte package and save some money vs. purchasing three individual game tickets. This would be a perfect set up for folks like my brother-in-law who dropped his season tickets this year because of the first two home games. A person like him could purchase a Flex Pak and a single game ticket and only include the conference games. (Sent an email to all my family members still in the area in hopes of getting some of them in the stands. Maybe I can get some more takers...maybe not.) I prefer to attend all the games, but I realize there are some who don't or can't commit to all the games. While I'd love a sellout crowd of season ticket holders, the Flex Pak combined with a single game option seems like a good opportunity.
