Where did Coog go? Did he finally realize that the last time Sam & Tx State met, the Kats won by 3 scores. Then that Texas St team turns around & WHIPS the Coogs 30-13 in their OWN stadium.

HAHAHAHA.

Not sure where he is at, but where ever it is, I hope he stays there. He adds nothing to the forum.

Take this thread where it belongs, either a SAM board or a UH board. Most LU fans really don't care if SAM and UH ever play except that it is always considered a big deal if an FCS school beats an FBS school. By the same token I would doubt a SAM fan cares who LU plays except to compare results against common opponents.

I basically agree with everything you are saying.

In all fairness to the original post, one of our fans speculated what the end result of an SHSU vs UH game would be in another post. I think SAM_KAT was just inquiring about the resolution. The SHSU vs UH conversation was a little off the original topic of that post concerning a player transferring to LU from UH, but there was some connection since the subsequent posts were part of a broader comparison of quality of players at the FCS level vs UH. We probably should have just stuck to the original topic in that one and not wandered off the path. However, I do find it interesting that the Jeff Sagarin 2012 year end college football ratings (one of the components in the BCS ranking) had SHSU 45 places (#63) higher than UH (#108). Another team in our conference, UCA, ended up 14 places higher (#94).

This thread might be better placed in another topic, maybe under THE BIG BOARD general topic.

To move this one off topic, I personally think an FCS vs FBS discussion is interesting as long as the points are logically presented whereever it lands. If we wanted to move to that type of discussion, the following linked website provides some interesting data. The site goes back to 1978, the year the division split. For example, LU played 15 games against 1-A (FBS) teams winning 2 according to the website. I guess the website is counting our 1989 win against UTEP and our 1981 win against Baylor. I think we were still in subdivision I-A when we beat Baylor, though. That was before the SLC moved from I-A to I-AA in 1982.

We came close to beating UH in 1983 (42-35). Other oh so close, but no cigar games after 1981 were in 1985 against Rice (29-28), 1987 against Rice again (34-30), and 1988 against Arizona State (24-13).

Besides, the board is in an off-season lull. To me, it's fun to just read and talk about sports.
