Preston Mattingly, the son of Don Mattingly, who played basketball for Lamar from 2013 to 2016 has been named the general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. I saw his dad at a Lamar game, sitting with Gilligan.
Cards dominated the first half but were unable to do anything after halftime. They had all the stats at halftime but only a 7 point lead.
I don't know why Coleman came out. Was he hurt or was he benched for two horrible decisions--the pick six in the first half and the interception late over the middle when he was running for his life and just threw it up?
Other roster changes:
Jakevion Buckley is now at SE Louisiana, Terry Anderson is at High Point, Aleksa Lekic is at Kilgore and Brian Gordon is at TAMU-Kingsville. Little-used Max Pearcy is gone but I don't know where
I hope thread lasts more than one more game but did you notice that former Cardinal Mike Sarbaugh produced twelve runs tonight (Well he waived them in). Number 86 coaching third for the Mets.
He was hurt just before the half against Weber State. He returned to the huddle but they had to take him out because the clock was stopped for his injury. Longino threw a short TD pass on the next play. Coleman hasn't played since. He dressed out against TSU (with heavy wrap on one leg)
Coleman was dressed out. Does anyone know how long he will be out? TSU could crowd the line of scrimmage because they didn't have to respect the pass. Longino has been here 3 years and he has never come close to winning the job. One play really got my attention. We had a wide receiver throw a pass before Longino tried one--we have no passing game, such as it is, with Coleman out.
I said just before they went for it at the end that they would be stupid not to kick the field goal and take the lead. Then we stopped them. Maybe they didn't have confidence in a kicking game that had already kicked a pat attempt off the post and had a field goal try hit the backs of their linemen.
If you had the over for penalty yards, you're a winner. Lamar was penalized EIGHTEEN TIMES for 154 yards! If those aren't school records I'm glad I didn't see the game that beats those numbers. Sadly, I did see this one.
Tarleton was well ahead at halftime but also lost their QB going into the half. They didn't score or move the ball in second half so McNeese basically had the ball for the whole 2nd half. Not sure how much the comeback means. With their starting QB, Tarleton was clearly the better team.
