  1. UTRGV killing UIW. Lamar’s close games with some of these teams are making some sense.
  2. Don’t look now, but ETAMU up on SFA early.
  3. McCown is in street clothes—looks to be the latter.
  4. Hope there is a chance for McDowell to run one in—dude deserves it.
  5. November 25th?! Who knew they get a whole month off between the last game and the next? We should've had our lunch eaten three times now. I realize the game isn't decided in the beginning, but I don't feel as though we've played a complete game yet. If we let SFA or SELA out to a big lead and expect to use 4th-quarter heroics to steal those games, we might walk away with a loss. Don't get me wrong--I'm very pleased and proud of this team thus far. I just hope they can figure out what it is to keep the momentum going in the next three games from start to finish.
  6. That’s fair, but Beaumont is notoriously bad at attending sporting events, regardless of the teams’ success. You’d think a national ranking and being in the process of back-to-back winning seasons would get people to the stadium. Someone else mentioned the Oktoberfest being today as well. That’s dumb planning by the city.
  7. What an unimpressive crowd…Beaumont has never been able to get people to games (Golden Gators, LU football, championship hockey). We have a top 20 team in the nation and because it’s not UT, people don’t care. Also, can someone tell the ESPN broadcasters that it’s McCown, not McCowan? Didn’t think it would last 2 games, but here we are. Looking for a good 2nd half!
  8. Lamar with a few notables on the national stage: Leads the nation in hits through 10 games Damian Ruiz leads the nation in hits by an individual through 10 games Second in the nation in runs scored through 10 games Sixth in the nation in batting average through 10 games There are a few others in which they're high up the list as well.
  9. Love being proven wrong with transfers in from HCU and the like. Am I the only one who never knows what to make of an intra-conference player from a lower-rung SLC team? Ruiz was a very nice pick-up and I’m always happy when Davis and the development from the coaches can resonate and be turned into production at the plate or on the mound.
  10. Damian Ruiz with hitter of the week honors
  11. Cards improve to 8-1 with a walk-off 8th inning run-rule grand slam against Oakland.
  12. Cards up 16-0 on Albany in top of the 5th.
  13. Cards win first game against Albany, 7-4. After being down most of the game, they had a 7-run 8th inning.
  14. Boy, this is seeming familiar. We’ve got to come out strong in the second half to avoid what happened the first time these two met.
  15. I looked up Terry Anderson who had transferred to High Point after a good junior year at Lamar. I hated to see him go, but he’s now on a team with minimal stats/minutes as a senior (he could be hurt). I think it says two things: 1) I’m confident in Coach Brooks’ ability to bring in talent who will fill in the holes left by the transfers and graduated. No offense to Anderson, but Holifield might be better. At worst, he’s a seamless transition. 2) If Anderson isn’t hurt, he’s riding the bench on a team that is 13-4 in a competitive Big South. If that’s the case, I think Lamar still has some unrealized potential when guys from last year who averaged 13.1 ppg are expendable to where they transfer. Again, if he’s hurt, this point is moot. Interested to hear others’ thoughts…
