I would really like to see the win this game, go 7-5, and show a little improvement from last year. Would be good on the recruiting trail to show the continued improvement. Let 2 very winnable games, SFA and SELA get away. Hopefully Rossomando gets the QB and offensive play improved before next year. Not sure how many starters we are losing after this year.

Cards travel across the river to McNeese on Saturday for a 7 PM game. This will be the last game of the season and with a win Lamar will tie SFA for third place and a loss will move Lamar down to a tie for fifth place possibly with multiple teams. McNeese is sitting in the same place so add one more thing to the rivalry. Will it be a 7-5 season and the first time since the 1960's that Lamar has had two winning seasons in a row or a breakeven 6-6 and at least some disappointment compared to some expectations.

Another stellar coaching performance by Dr Brooks….
-
Sammy only had 8 scholarship players suited up and were missing some key players.
-
Lamar falls by thirteen. 85-72
-
After starting the game 1-10 from the field and getting down by as many as fifteen points nearly midway through the first half, Lamar finally starts hitting some field goals and tightening up their defense to close the gap to four points at the half. Sam Houston is up 41-37.
-
Cards renew rivalry with Sam Houston with a 4 PM game against Sam Houston.
-
Lamar wins 24-7. Next week Lamar will finish up at McNeese in a game with a lot to play for. The Cards are 6-5 overall and 3-3 in conference, so a winning record is still achievable and a tie for third place is possible. Ironically McNeese sits with the same record so they have a lot to play for also and it is a rivalry game on top of that. Game time next week is listed as 7 PM.
-
A victory today puts us with the same record as last year. Need to win in Lake Chuck to make marginal improvement.
-
With 6:27 left in the game Coleman connects with Gibbs for a touchdown and a 24-7 lead.
-
Lamar goes sixty-six yards on their second possession of the second half ending in a touchdown pass from Coleman to Griffin. Fusilier had two big receptions on the drive. Cards up 17-7 with 5:55 left in the third quarter.
-
Cards score first on a sixty-yard punt return in the first quarter, then get a field goal to take a 10-0 lead before a penalty on fourth down kept a Nicholls drive going and then on another fourth down the Nicholls punter fumbled the snap then picked it up and ran for a first down. That play led to a touchdown with a little over a minute and a half left in the half to close the gap to three points.
-
Volleyball closes out regular season with a win at Nicholls guaranteeing a winning record at 15-13 and 7-9 in conference. Cards will qualify for conference tournament.
-
Cards take on Nicholls tomorrow at 3 PM in their final home game of the season. A win will place Lamar with a fourth-place finish in their own control and a shot at tie for third place depending on SFA's finish. A loss may push Lamar down to as far as eighth.

After a terrible first half, Lamar played Texas even in the second half although Texas rested their starters for a lot of it. The big difference was probably that Davis play most of the half, picking up only one more foul and scoring ten points in the half. Sabrea Dean added thirteen points for the game. Final score Texas 95 - Lamar 58. The ladies will return to action Friday the 22nd at SMU.
-
Texas obliterating Lamar throughout the first half. Davis picked up two fouls in seven minutes of playing time which definitely didn't help. At the half Texas is up 51-14.

Why is Gambrell not playing? Was excited to see what he can do this year.

(And I said they aren’t 30 points better…I didn’t say they weren’t better)
-
Apparently we watched 2 different games. They had one guy who was noticeably bigger, but other than that…and he wasn’t very skilled offensively. We were 6’ 10, 6’ 10, 6’6, 6’3, and 6’0. Granted, Holifield is very skinny but he’s clearly got talent. And at times we replaced the 6’3” with a 6’5” or 6’6”. And, for the most part, these aren’t slow/slug footed players we were putting in. Our scheme vs A&M was like trying to force a square peg into a round hole. You leave our players wide open like we left theirs, we would have been the ones making a bunch of 3’s. We do NOT play sound defense. Too much trapping, too much pressing gets players out of position to be able to play decent defense.
-
Women return to action tomorrow at #4 Texas for a 7 PM start.
-
I have to disagree. In person, we didn’t pass the eye test. Our forwards were skinnier than theirs and our whole team is slower. It didn’t help that we couldn’t sink a shot to save our lives.
-
We threw it a whopping 3 times more than we ran it. They were keying on the run yet we still tried to run it 29 times…averaging a whopping 2.5 yards a carry! And our running plays are so predictable. Frustrating. (Our defense stunk too…602 yards allowed??!!?? Uggggghhhh).
-
A&M is good but they aren’t 30 points better than us based on athletes - eye test. But their coaching is certainly 30+ points better than us.
-
Just awful coaching again. Full court pressing against a team with better players/athletes than you is pure stupidity. And once again, constantly leaving them with wide open 3 pointers. Then there’s our no scheme offense. Just terrible. Do we have ANY clue how to feed the ball into the post?? Do we EVER set off the ball screens to try to free players up? Did we run any plays to get someone open for a jumper other than a semi pick and roll type play (that we do EVERY DAMN TIME)???!!!!

Lamar falls by twenty-six, 97-71. Marmolejos scores 23, followed by 15 from Jackson and 13 from Holifield. Lamar doesn't have the player that can consistently drive and score. A&M had a distinct size advantage at the guards. As bad as this score was, I think this is a better team than last year overall, but this team could use a Terry Anderson type of player. Gambrell hasn't made it into a game yet. Is he hurt or something else?
