geezer Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 The coach fired two years ago at SELA was after his fifth season and the teams overall 9th season since restarting their program. The first coach was there two years and left on his own for a FBS coaching position. The second coach was there two years and I did not find why he left. Quote
Card Nation Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I heard Woodard say in an interview after the McNeese game that the schedule is setup for Lamar to have a good run next year because they don't play SFA or NWST and will play some of the new conference members. I hope he's not implying that Lamar's going to win more games next year because of an easier schedule! I think SFA and Northwestern would have been games we could have won. I would have preferred swapping out SELA or Cen Ark for SFA or Northwestern. If Woodard is back i imagine expectations will be high. I think we would definitely have to beat the three new schools, Nichols and 2 of the 4 other games.... Meaning winning 2 of the games against either SLA, Mcneese, Cen Ark, or SAM. That puts us at 6 conference wins next year. Too tough?? Too lenient?? Im sure once we know the fate of Woodard, we will have lots of discussions on what we think will be acceptable or not for next year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Card Nation Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 he aint going anywhere unless Mrs.Dauphine approves it..which means...he aint going anywhere My concern is that if he isn't going anywhere the announcement should have been made already. Why would the admin wait to announce that he was staying? The decision should have been made days or weeks ago, IMO. It doesn't make sense to me. Now is the time when recruits are making their decisions especially Juco players. Coaches need to be hustling up players and not sitting thru Thanksgiving wondering if they will have a job on Monday. Maybe the admin is waiting for a coach prospect to make a decision to accept or decline their offer or something.... Who knows.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
LAZEEK Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Ray was at LU Hoop game last night, sporting his LU gear. First off if he was going to be let go he would not be at game nor wearing his LU gear. I fully expect Ray to return, and look forward to a winning season next year at LU!!! Quote

Guest austinred Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 The rumor started with Bob West, the cardinal hater. Quote
LUAthletics Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 My sources tell me he has 2 years left on contract and that they are looking for the money to buy out his contract about $200, 000. Quote
geezer Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 My recollection is that two years ago they extended his contract one year through the 2014 season possibly with an option for 2015. The other thing that makes sense for a date in 2015 might be, when is his contract "up", at the end of the season or based on when he started working for LU. Quote

geezer Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 After reading the Nov 25 column attached in the previous post it talked about attendance as a possible reason for a coaching change. Hate to say it but that is a bad reason to consider a change at this point. Who ever is looking at that better look back to the 1980s before the program shutdown. They need to look back at what kind of support minor league baseball and other semi or pro sports have gotten in Beaumont. The last minor league baseball team was the Golden Gators and I believe they were pretty successful from a winning record stand point. I know they had several future MLB All Stars on the squad I am thinking of. Point is Bmt hasn't really poured out support for even winning programs. The athletic department needs to survey the students as to what will get them out to the games. Quote
puddin tane Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 "Strongly supporting the notion that Woodard deserves more time is one of the school’s major donors — Beaumont attorney Walter Umprhey." case closed now its time to move on to that useless basketball coach Quote

Knightman Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I believe that he should be allowed to stay, because I believe the program has shown much improvement over the course of this year!!!!!!!!!! Go Cards!!!!!!!!!!! Knightman Quote

Seered Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 We are losing a lot of starting players this year. We need recruit starting Big Time JUCO Players to help fill in.Brock Wempa should get a medical redshirt for this year.Woodard needs to stay here!!!! Quote
geezer Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Does no announcement mean he is back for another year? He was at both of last weeks basketball games wearing his LU logo clothes. Quote
BigNasty92 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Does no announcement mean he is back for another year? He was at both of last weeks basketball games wearing his LU logo clothes. He has one year remaining on his contract... And considering the improvements made this year, I'm baffled as to why this is even a discussion right now. If this were his last year, then maybe I could understand. .. West is irrelevant and a year early with his "story". Gimme a break. Now if we were awaiting news about the fate of Keuck..I could totally understand that. Woodard WILL be here next season. Quote
