There is no doubt he was not ready for Tech and he has basically said that himself. While not satisfied with where we are currently I believe he can turn it around given a little time. I don't know who found or recruited last years squad but it was such a bust that he lost a full year if not a little more. Yeah the blame for the recruiting bust goes to the top, but new players on this squad are better, there are just not enough.

When this year ends he will have coached Lamar to the worst 2 year stretch in the HISTORY of Lamar basketball. He wasn't ready for Lamar. Guy just isn't a good coach or recruiter and the record speaks for itself.

Honestly, I believe it's an ego thing with him. He can talk X's and O's with the best but he has refused to recruit locally, Louisiana or Texas.

I don't care if you are coaching HS or college it is imperative to have the best athletes possible and he just doesn't.

I know a few of you weren't crazy about Rocc but his teams would destroy this current team.

Besides losing, the style of play just isn't fun to watch!!

Overall level of players has declined. Overall in-game decisions is better IMO. Too bad LU couldn't have Roc's recruits, and Pat's knowledge. Oh wait, we did two years ago when LU won the SLC Tournament and went to the NCAA Tournament.

I am going to make a point to go watch some of these high school kids that Lazeek has mentioned on here. Lazeek can you tell me where those good players play high school ball here in the Golden Triangle. Thank you.

I noticed that Grambling is dead last in the Massey Ratings and they are coached by Joseph Price, Pat Knight's former assistant here at Lamar. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

Last year they blamed Joseph Price for the poor recruiting. Who is to blame now?

Horrible and will not get better. PK is utterly overmatched in all facets of game. We won't beat UNO (won last night at UTEP) probably won't beat HBU, maybe we can play with ACU and/or UIW (first year transitional Div. I programs) or maybe we can beat TAMUCC (they lost to UT-Permian Basin this year) ORU realized what a pitiful conference this is and is getting out after two years! Lamar is at very BOTTOM of this Div. I in name only conference. Totally a joke. Never could of imagined how bad this could be. But here we are!! Sad really

Sorry, I don't miss Roc at all. Agree, he was a decent recruiter, but he was a terrible coach and the pre-conference schedule usually had five or six cupcakes to make sure the record looked better than what the team was. The program was going nowhere under him. Lamar and the other SLC teams playing the number of cupcake games they did is part of why the SLC is near the bottom of the conference rankings. While I am extremely frustrated with the last year and the current years record, I believe we are where we are based on the bust from last years recruiting class. LU brought in eight new players last year, most of which really were not D1 caliber and between graduation, dismissals and transfer outs LU has seven new players this year with one not cleared to play by the NCAA. Only two of the returning players are have contributed to any real degree. We are almost through a non-conference schedule where everyone we have played is ranked higher than LU, (in most cases significantly higher) so before condemning PK any further I will wait and see how the early part of the conference schedule goes. I think the LU program was a lot further down than most thought it was when PK won two years ago with Roc's recruits. Reality was that Mike James was that good of a scorer that it hid most of the rest of the problems.

My reference was only to the squad the PK inherited. Don't forget some of the ones that didn't finish playing for LU after one year or less of Coach Roc. How about Justin Wesley who left LU and went to KU and contributed but barely played at LU, if he actually had any game time. James Davis, granted he had personal problems, but Roc recruited him and couldn't keep him under control.

At Lamar's level you have to give someone like James Davis 7'0 ranked the 7th best player in the country in junior college a chance. He got a chance and showed a childlike personality. He was a cancer and I don't care how good he could have been. You can't keep him. His first game at LU he scored 34 pts versus La Tech...

Wesley did transfer to KU but you drastically over state how much he played.

Go check and you will see he didn't play over 40 minutes at Kansas the whole time he was there

I guess you don't remember Anthony Todd? Played 3 yrs at Lamar and transferred to UNLV. Now, he played for UNLV but didn't start and probably wasn't the first post off the bench.

Was that Coach Foster's fault he transferred?

There is one bottom line here and it is this. The third year of a coach should AT LEAST be showing progress. Instead the teams record is 1-9. NO COACH IN LAMAR HISTORY HAS BEEN THIS BAD!!! Not Mike Newell, Tony Branch, Mike Deane, and not anyone at all!!!!!!!! There are no excuses. If this is not turned around this year he needs to go. PERIOD!!!

I will be honest here. I did not want Lamar to fire Roc but there were too many money people that were unhappy with LU failing to make the SLC post season tourney. Coach Tidwell, then AD fired him and I know he and Roc were close. Soon after, he gave up the AD job and later left Lamar for UT-Pan American.

I know Tidwell's wife wasn't crazy about moving to Beaumont. But, with all the energy Tidwell put into the athletic program (at one time living in the dorms) I can't believe he made a lateral move without something happening. I believe at that time it was made known the administration would not support a move to the WAC plus firing Roc, he could see they weren't willing to do all needed for a successful athletic program.

Notice they have yet to upgrade Vincent Beck. Sam Houston just put in a new state of art scoreboard and the baseball complex isn't over 8 yrs old!! We don't even have architecture drawings of what VB is suppose to look like after a $5 million renovation!!

All the above, I just had to get off my chest!

Back to the subject, I wanted Pat Knight or the coach from Central Oklahoma.

So, I have to eat some crow of PK doesn't turn this season around. I would have been dead wrong about who Lamar should have hired.

If the season doesn't improve, I agree with sleepy he will need to be let go. If anyone knows me personally, they know I hate the thought of firing a coach.

I was not a big supporter of the PK hire, but despite the record so far this year, this team is a big improvement over last years. I think PK knows what is expected and he knows last years recruiting class was a big set back, no excuses and so here the program is. The question for those that are calling for his head right now is do you want to be a 15-15 team which Roc was bringing with four of those wins coming at home against D-2 and lower opponents or are you willing to be a little patient as in one or two more years to see if PK can get it going? Also who are you going to bring in? If the past 25 years of LU coaching hires is any example a quick turnaround isn't happening. Personally I hate the current years record to date but I like the competition we have played.
