After what I have seen in 3 games, we have way more to worry about than a FBS invite.

For starters, we are stuck with D-II caliber coaching. We need to migrate past even FCS coaching and get to FBS coaching if a move is really what LU wants. If that includes increasing salaries, then that's what's going to have to happen.

BigRed98,

Your mind changed that quick regarding what Lamar needs to be focused with? Note that your last two posts are on the same subject arguing two opposite points. One win against SELA made you change your mind?

I see no relevance at this time. It depends on what the Big East does now to survive. Do they raid C-USA? Does C-USA take FIU, FAU, UMT, or WKU? IMO, these are the kind of things that could possibly create an opening in the SBC. I still do not believe that the WAC will survive as a football conference and I believe that as soon as it is apparent that La. Tech will not get a C-USA invite, they will join the SBC. This will effectively kill the WAC.

I would say what happens next is very likely up to the ACC, SEC and OU/Texas. If OU and Texas stay with the Big 12 and TCU decides to join the fold then I believe the Big 12 has a little time to get back to twelve qauality schools where all of them are football members. If the ACC goes to a sixteen team conference by further raiding the Big East and WVU goes to the SEC then the Big East maybe down to three football playing schools. At that point the Big East may be the football conference to disappear.

I don't know about La Tech to the SBC. They're all about prestige. What sounds more prestigious? Playing schools like the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas State University-San Marcos, Utah State etc. or playing half the Sun Belt teams? I don't like that mentality but that's how LA Tech thinks IMO.

Calling all Cardinals, BigRedInsider is officially pushing a red out at the Texas State game. Invite everyone you know, make sure you get as many Lamar people as you can to this game, the more the better! We're going to sell out that Stadium!

Not at all. SELA is weak and I know that. I'm just trying to get conversation moving. I still stand firm on our coaching. I want LU to move up AND I want LU to get new coaching.

Negative Nancy. Are you at least supporting the team in the stands this weekend? It's sad that we are winning and this game still hasn't sold out.

Some of you people would support Woodward if you caught him in bed with your wives. I choose to be a realist and expect more for Lamar. I have season tickets and didn't take my master's money to A&M..... I got mine from LU and kept my money here, so don't act like the ultimate fan. If you were, you'd still be here instead of College Station. LU is known for being an engineering school in case you haven't heard...

As far as tonight goes, I have season tickets but had to give tonight's to a friend due to previous obligations. There will be butts in my seat though, if you ultimate LU fans approve of that.

I have my reasons for getting my masters at a different university. How does getting my masters somewhere else make me lass of a fan. Im walking around repin' lu in college station every day. If you want to know my reasons pm me.

Also Im not a woodard lover but im not a woodard hater either. Its far too early to say whether he is the right guy. And a w or a l tonight doesnt change that. I just wish you could be a little more positive and patient.

I will be the first to gladly eat crow if he turns the program around. I hope he can and does. With the additional recruits we have this year, we are doing worse than last year if you compare games. How many of you openly admitted we had a chance against USA? We should have. It wasn't even close...

The team is 3-1, 1-0 in conference. In my opinion they have a good shot at being 4-1, 2-0 after tonight. I don't see how you could expect much more from a 2nd year program to this point. Woodard isn't turning around a program, he's attempting to build one.

Yeah, that's just a horrible analogy. I think the point here is that nothing has happened for any of us to be upset with Woodard, the way he has conducted himself, or the progress the team has had.

We beat a team we should have slaughtered by a whopping 10 points and we lost by a wide margin to a USA team that many of you all said we could beat. We have taken a step backward from last year despite having more talent on the team. The record does not speak for the state of the team. Yes, the team needs to be turned around.

USA should be considered FBS. The fact that they have started up in such a progressive manner is amazing. You can't project that kind of success onto Lamar. We are still in our second year. As a rebuttal to your previous statement, I bet if the team won conference, you would be unhappy they didn't win the national championship. What is a realistic expectation you were hoping this year? Please don't say you expected them to win out. What would spell success to you for this second year program???????

A step backward? Are you nuts? Last year Lamar barely beat two non-D1 teams and had to rally from behind to barely beat SLU. Last year Lamar was getting killed at this point in the season now they have a very good chance at going 2-0 to start conference play.

^^ I agree. And honestly, going 5-6 last year was a great start. We nearly beat GSU, we beat South Dakota (DI), and we held our own against McNeese. If you expected much more, I don't know what to tell you.

Any of you have yet to address that you all said we had a shot against USA because we have more talent this year. We hung with them last year. Brought in more talent in the off season. Lost by more this year......... What about the whopping 10 point margin of victory against Incarnate Word?

You all be happy with mediocrity. If we are trying to move up, that isn't good enough and it won't keep fans in the stands.

No, I don't expect for us to win out. I know that won't happen. SHSU is currently killing SFA 45-10. I expect improvement every year, and I expect that a D-II team won't compete against us. Your arguments for our record are weak considering who we have played.
