CraigS Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 CS-P was actually a very ballanced offense. .. And did all things well. ..I know yall ripped us for losing to them... perhaps rightly so. .. But they were impressive. -Eat'em Up Kats Quote
geezer Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 As bad as Lamar played they still showed that Sam has serious weaknesses this year. Even the beloved aggies and LSU tigers have trouble winning when they turn the ball over and play poorly (no intent to compare Lamar to either of those programs). Think about this Craig, Lamar ran the ball reasonably well against Sam. Lamar came out with the best kickoff of the year, held Sam to three and out and then give them back the ball in decent field position with an interception on a ball that Berry shouldn't have thrown. In a game that should have been close, you can't do that. I will not say that Sam might not have won but they are not 35 points better than Lamar. Now the Sam game is over, so let's see what happens the remainder of the year. Quote
CraigS Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 You're right. .. Sam is 32 points better. .. Not 35.... That's the problem yall are in denial....LU "looked" that bad due TO the Kats not in spite of. ...LU did not go from 73 points and the highest scoring offense because they had a bad game. .. they had the #1 offense because they didn't play anybody. ... the 10 points was reality of their offense inability to score against at least a "decent defense. .. the 42 points is a combo of poor defense on LU's part and the Kats defense for giving their offense opportunities.... But we do agree on one thing. ... this game is over. .... -Eat'em Up Kats Quote
jdcurran235 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Some make it more difficult than others by living in fantasy land. ...I didn't see a single fumble that was just dropped out in space. .(unforced). they came after being hit. .. Sam was hitting LU hard all night. .. unlike the flag football teams yall played previously. ..the Kats actually hit people and were causing decisions to be made much quicker than those JV teams. ...leading to bad decisions.... I'm pretty sure the only time Lamar beat themselves was in the spring game. .. haha the difficult concept is LU fans to except they just might not be very good and headed nowhere in that direction any time soon. .. -Eat'em Up Kats Just off the top of my head I saw a fumble due to a bad snap and a bad pitch. Neither forced by Sam. We played awful. Sam might have made it look worse but they were not the complete and total cause of our failures. Much of it was self it was self inflicted. Quote
BigRedPecker Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Yes. Sam caused the multiple drive ending drops, the whiff on what would've been a 70 yd TD pass to open the 3rd that would've got us to within 2, the dropped snaps and overall sloppy ass play. Sure. They get credit for forcing turnovers and y'all are a decent team, but we played like dog shit. Quote

Not making excuses...Sam beat us and they took advantage when we didn't execute...and we didn't execute a lot...particularly in the pass and punt games Quote
CraigS Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 With all that said. .. I've stated from the beginning I do not hate LU...so where do they go from here. .. is the season a bust.... or is it salvageable. .. if so what's it gonna take in yalls opinion. I personally don't see how LU can win the games that will matter. ..I think the strength of the Cards is in both OL & DL... skill positions and secondary are not good enough. .. And as mentioned. . Special teams can change the momentum and win you games. .. if nothing else in winning field position... And picking up 3 pts instead of nothing on a stalled drive. .. Quote
puddin tane Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I don't no what game y'all watched..the game I watched was a total bitch slapping, beat down..out hustled, out hit, out played and out coached if Sam had a qb that could pass, it woulda been really ugly Quote
puddin tane Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 these are the plays towards the end of the first half that make me want to shred my season tickets..Rays prevent offense... Lu 1-10 at Shsu20 Harris, Carl rush for no gain to the SHSU20 (Chatman, Myke). Lu 2-10 at Shsu20 Harrington, Kad rush for 5 yards to the SHSU15 (Eche, Tristan;Stokes, Tyrel). Lu 3-5 at Shsu15 Harrington, Kad rush for loss of 1 yard to the SHSU16 (Adebo, Mouf;Eche, Tristan). Lu 4-6 at Shsu16 Davis, Josh field goal attempt from 33 GOOD, clock 02:59. Quote

NorthoftheBorder Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) I still say that Sam is no better than 4th this year and misses the FCS playoffs. I don't care for how the players at Sam act, they remind me of LaMarque HS. I feel pretty certain they will have it handed to them next week against McNeese and they will not be showing that crappy attitude. Of course LU is now for sure in the 6-8 range, down from my original thought of 5-7th place. We are no better than a middle of the pack team. Edited September 29, 2014 by NorthoftheBorder Quote

Does anyone understand that sequence of plays? My guess is Woodard was desperate for some points before halftime and was happy with a FG. Carl Harris had been a lot more effective running than Harrington but is prone to fumble. Berry has a knack of throwing interceptions in the red zone. Quote
puddin tane Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 berry also has a knack for throwing touchdown passes...and we don't even try.... Quote

Special teams can change the momentum and win you games. .. if nothing else in winning field position... And picking up 3 pts instead of nothing on a stalled drive. .. I disagree. I think we have a few very good skill players. The strength of our offense SHOULD be our quarterback and Kade Harrington is an excellent running back. Our offensive line is improved over what it has been, or at least I thought it was...but I didn't see many gaping holes so I think the jury is still out on that. Berry stunk and I just don't get it. I think a lot of his crappy play can be attributed to our play calling. I think Beggleton is an outstanding receiver. Roberts..well, he appears to be a 1 trick pony. I think Jayce Nelson could be very good if given a chance..but I believe he was hurt. And our tight ends are damn good but we don't bother throwing them the ball but once or twice a game...frigging stupid. As for our defense...I think our corners stink. Our d-line is below average. And I haven't been too impressed with our linebacker play. Our guys need to start manning up and lighting up people. Mississippi College put 10 times more hard hits on us than we did on them. Yes, we blew them out but they would actually hit you. And, of course, Sam really lit us up a few times. I'm concerned about Berry. He looks like an All American against lesser opponents but has laid two eggs against better team. Is that him? Is it our o-line? Is it our play calling? Is it our receivers? Probably all of the above. Oh, and what is the point of a read option when the qb NEVER keeps the ball? Dear opponents, our QB NEVER RUNS! Edited September 30, 2014 by cardinal Quote
