bigred360 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I've read King is quite an athlete. "Best football player, basketball player, track athlete for our school. Probably would be the best baseball player if he played" Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) I think had he played for another school in a higher classification FBS schools would have been all over him. Looking at his body of work most schools may think his productivity is due to lesser competition but in turn when you look at his team he is almost a 1-man wrecking crew...and opponents know that. He still managed to break 100 yards rushing last week against WO-S with them keying in on him. A few numbers in him...last year he ran for 1,800 yards in 11 games (~164 p/g) and scored 37 TDs (rushing, receiving, passing, returning). This year he is at 1,246 yards rushing with 22 rushing TDs in 8 games. Edited October 26, 2015 by KABrother88 Quote
bigcam2903 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 There are guys at smaller schools getting FBS offers, I'm no expert, but recruiters puzzle me. I've seen certain kids totally outplay some of our area big time recruits on a regular basis. I've actually witnessed former WB RB now at McNeese put on a clinic at Baylor/ Abiline Camp. I've attended rivals & a few other camps & came away with the same feeing. What are these guys looking for? I'm grappa for my son because he's at a University that wanted him & he's making the most of his opportunity. The HF ball player will get his Due. I've watched plenty of his film, he has a lot of things you can't teach. Being a Freak of Nature is one. Many Blessings to this young man and All College hopefuls. Lamar loves what he will bring to the table. Good scoop Coach Woody!!!! Quote
cardinal Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I imagine that can be a frustrating process. I would imagine they focus heavily on physical attributes: height, weight, speed, strength. Often times I bet they forget to ask "can they really play the game". You give me a high character kid that can play, and you throw in a 4.5 time or better...I'm signing those kids ALL DAY LONG! puddin tane Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 We NEED a "knock the snot out of you " linebacker Quote
cardinal Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 We NEED a "knock the snot out of you " linebacker No doubt. Definitely need defensive help...either that or it's the coaching. But, I knock your ass out defensive leader at linebacker could make a world of difference. Seems like the really good defenses have great linebackers as the leader of the d Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 28, 2015 Author Posted October 28, 2015 Beaumont Enterprise Article about King's commitment. http://m.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/hs/article/Cardinals-score-big-coup-in-King-commitment-6591964.php Probably my favorite part of it is this King stated nothing has been finalized as to where he will play for the Cardinals, but whether it's on offense or defense doesn't really matter to him. "I just want to play," King said. "They've talked to me about numerous scenario like defensive back and running back in the Wildcat. I don't have a preference. Whatever helps the team I'll do." When you can get premier players to commit to doing whatever is best for the program then you set yourself up to be successful. Quote
bigcam2903 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Kid is my kinda player; a football player. Put him at any position and he will make plays. He has won me over already. What a great approach to your Collegiate career. How can a FBS pass up on such a Talent & unselfish kid. SMH Good pick up Woody!!!! Quote

puddin tane Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Seems like we have running backs out the wazoo. Ray switching to the wishbone? Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 At least one if not both of King and Krautz will be moving to WR/DB I would think. In Ray's defense, you have quality players from the area that want to come play for you...take them and sort the positions out later Quote
puddin tane Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Not complaining at all. Just saying Quote
geezer Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Not complaining at all. Just saying I agree that we seem to have recruited a lot of running backs and it seems like they are all speed backs. Don't remember any bruiser types that will get those one and two yard touchdowns that have cost LU several games over the last couple of years. Quote
rpruitt1997 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 (edited) I agree that we seem to have recruited a lot of running backs and it seems like they are all speed backs. Don't remember any bruiser types that will get those one and two yard touchdowns that have cost LU several games over the last couple of years. Things have changed over the years. I remember Lamar had a 6'3", 230 pound Running Back in the 60's that impressed the heck out of me. Speed is a big factor these days. That guy I just mentioned would probably be placed at Tight End or H-Back these days. Nowadays you get a lot of smaller guys that hit the hole quickly and cut back to a hole they see. Many years ago McNeese had a RB from Deridder named Theron McClendon that ran the ball wide just about every play. If he got to the sidelines and cut upfield, he was gone! He only did that maybe three or so times he ran the ball a game, but he could get over 100 yards a game doing this. Granted he often made few yards and even a loss doing this, but it worked. Theron was maybe 5'6" and 150 pounds. He ran sprints for the Track team. These days there a lot fewer big guys running the ball in High School. The big schools sign them fast. Sometimes they transfer back to the Southland. Arguably the best RB at McNeese this year is Ryan Ross who runs about 5'10", 220. He is not really fast but he keeps his feet moving and you have to gang tackle him and make sure he goes down. The last game Sam really keyed on him so we tried Derrick Milton and they did not try to key on him. Ross came in later and got some yardage. We are redshirting Ryan's brother this year. He is 6', 250! I can't figure where he will play next year. He was great in High School as a RB and a LB! I would like to see Harrington and Ross on 1st Team All Conference this year. rpruitt1997 Edited November 20, 2015 by rpruitt1997 error Quote
KABrother88 Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 Found an interesting article about DL commit Daniel Crosley. In Deridder's regular season finale, he rushed (yes rushed) for 329 yards and 4 TDs...guy oozes with athleticism http://m.kplctv.com/kplctv/db_375878/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=r2KfqqsZ Quote

His Hudl profile had finally been taken off of private. Click on the film from the Leesville for the big rushing game. Even had an 85 yarder in there...big man can move. Really like his DE film though...I'm sure he would have had even better DE film had he not been playing such a roll at RB. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4360165/highlights Here is his brother David's film: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3556222/highlights Quote

I could only find a YouTube clip of his Jr. season film when I linked it to the first post. Never really understood the concept of the private Hudl account though...I know it lets coaches still see film because they will have an account but peons like me like to watch the film of players we are going after to see what we are getting.
