LU-12
I think lamar cancelled a game with McNeese also. Yes, Jim Gilligan did cancel the midweek non-conference game with McNeese in Lake Charles on March 22. The only reason Jim Gilligan gave was he didn't want to go to Lake Charles. Interesting!! It's hard for a team to get 56 games in a season when the head coach is canceling games just because of his own SELFISHNESS!!!!!!!! It should be about the welfare of the student athlete(s) and the program and not about his EGO to cancel whenever he wants. lamar1
Cancelling mid week game with McNeese may have something to do with the Rickfelson saga. Asst at Mcneese now
LU-12
Cancelling mid week game with McNeese may have something to do with the Rickfelson saga. Asst at Mcneese now Why would Jim Gilligan cancel a baseball game with McNeese in Lake Charles because of Coach Jimmy Ricklefsen? This doesn't add up! Jim Gilligan has always claimed that he had nothing to do with the hiring process and that it was all Jason Henderson's decision. We all know that is the furthest from the truth. The decision was made some 30 plus years ago when Jim Gilligan and David Bernsen decided to NOT make the same mistake of hiring the wrong guy again "THE ASSISTANT". Let's put this into perspective. Jim Gilligan knows Paul Mainieri's and Will Davis's dads. Lamar passes on hiring three top assistants from Lamar University, Rice University, and Texas State University and chooses a YOUNG volunteer assistant with little to no experience that Gilligan has ties to. Also, Gilligan got a young coach that he can control and always control in the future. As alway Jim Gilligan gets what he wants!!!!!!! Jim Gilligan has and shows NO LOYALTY to anyone........ geezer
For most Gilligan will be forgotten about with in a few years after he retires, except by a few die hard faithful friends and the records in the books that will be there for a long time as it takes many years of continued winning to have a chance to obtain some of them. Yes he will be mentioned during some celebrations but few will really care. Lamar has hired Davis so let's see where it goes and quit debating how it got here. Hopefully the road ahead is brighter than the one was when Gilligan left to go coach in the pro's and doesn't fall into the same kind of funk the basketball program has been in for most of the past thirty years with a coaching change every three to five years. LU-12
Jim Gilligan will not let Lamar University Fans forget him. Listen to his retirement press release. He says he might have another 13 or so years around the Lamar Baseball field like Al Vincent. That's why he wanted to hire a young coach with little experience so he can come back and be the great mentor. If Ricklefsen were hired, Gilligan knew he would not be returning the way he wanted. Why?? Ricklefsen knows to much. MANY MANY MANY SKELETONS IN Gilligan's CLOSET...That many people have known about and covered up. *********Gilligan has NO LOYALTY to anyone********** Lamar will never get rid of Jim Gilligan!!
