LionsFan Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Hello LU fans. Planning to make the trip over tomorrow for the game and we should be getting into town in time to pick up some supper. Do any of you have any recommendations for restaurants in the downtown area since we'll be passing through. Looking forward to a good game. Thanks Quote

Thanks sugas is kind of foofoo isn't it? like lu cards said, not much eats over there...im trying to think of anything near downtown ..I guess he's cutting down mlk off the interstate? Lukes Ice House on Calder, Carlitos or Elena's mex food on College (which isn't near the College) arent very far. Most everything is 5 or so miles west. Quote

Thanks just talked with a friend, she told me i needed to get out more. Gave me some more places downtown. Woogies, NY Pasta and Pizza, Hamburger Depot, Rosies Soul Food, Republic Chicken, and Titos Tacos. Not sure about any of em weekend hours, guess you can google them. she really liked Titos, ive never heard of em. Quote
Dracula Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Saturday morning, there is a fun run 5k downtown but it should be over by noon. Cutting through downtown is the quickest way to the Stadium but the dining opprotunities are limited. My recommendation is to stay on I-10 West, passing up downtown, and take your pick of the restaurant chains on the West side of Beaumont. Floyd's Steak and Seafood( I-10 West at Washington Blvd) packs them in, Jerry Nelson's Grill, I-10 West at College), Golden Corral at I-10 West and Washington, and a dozen more right down I-10. Driving back to the stadium, from the West side of town is maybe 12 miles but it's pretty easy. Just Google map the area and you will see. Quote
KABrother88 Posted September 30, 2016 Author Posted September 30, 2016 If you stay on I-10 and avoid downtown I suggest Floyd's...if you hit downtown I suggest New York Pizza & Pasta...Floyd's will run you more than NYPP but I think they are both good places Quote
coachacola Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I say this is a must win game for LU to have a chance at a winning record. It's probably a must win game for Woodard to keep his job (at least I would think so). I think LU wins this game and goes on a win streak. Quote

Not sure about any of em weekend hours, guess you can google them. she really liked Titos, ive never heard of em. These are great suggestions but I've never been to Woogies or Titos Tacos. NY Pizza has really good Italian food and isn't very expensive. Hamburger Depot, very casual & inexpensive really good burgers. Rosie's Soul Food just what it sounds like, good home cookin. Republic Chicken is new and I've heard it's very good. Supposedly set up kinda like a home cooked meal. Floyds has excellent seafood, it's not too far from the stadium but it's more on the other side of town. Carmela's and elenas both really good Tex Mex. if you venture to west end of town, Tia Juanitas, willy Burger, and crown pizza are all VERY good. Oh, I don't thing hamburger depot serves beer??? KABrother88 Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 If we don't have Oubre and a healthy 58 we won't win. Judging by the 2 deep they have Oubre as #2 Center...leads me to believe he's been released but just not back to 100% yet...was the same thing they did with Treadway against Sam and he saw a lot of action in his return. I would expect to see Oubre out there but maybe not for the whole game. Quote
eagle eye Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Who the heck would've imagined LU would have a 17-7 halftime lead. Will wonders ever cease? Quote
coachacola Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Lamar up 38-7 with about 6 minutes left in the game. Langley has 3 interceptions and Harrington scored his 50th career TD. Quote
Guest austinred Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 38-14 LU wins. Way to go Cards! That was an ass kicking!! Quote

I would expect to see Oubre out there but maybe not for the whole game. Oubre not suited up but we won anyway, they couldn't stop our running game which I thought they would. Fortunately Earp kept the ball a lot more this game, teams are definitely focusing on Kade but he had a nice game anyway. Our passing game is still a huge question mark as is our run defense. Anyway, nice to get a W. Quote
dirtybird Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Good to see pretty much a total tem effort tonight. I think they will keep getting better each game, and clicking as a team. Glad to see 58 back close to top form. Now need Oubre to get back in the game. Langley had a heck of a game. Quote
LU4LIFE Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Saw some good things from the cards tonight but still think we need to throw the ball down field more often. Cant just keep dumping it off and hoping it turns into a big play. I thought the defense played well but need to get a better pass rush. 1 down 7 more to go Quote
Dracula Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 This is what I thought I saw against Southeastern and looking back at the first three games. In the first three games, Lamar was overmatched speed wise, which killed our rushing attack, and when Lamar can't run, we lose because our passing game is so lously. Earp seems to be able to throw the inside slant but little else downfield. It seems like the younger LB's are getting in the game. I heard Minger and Crosely's name mentioned. I feel that the defense is getting there. Record wise, Lamar should beat Abilene next week and Northwestern the game after that. But then, off we go to play Central Arkansas and their national ranked run defense. But, for now enjoy the win. Quote
puddin tane Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 good to get a win....but I'll be the one to say it, that was one boring game. Randle break a collar bone? Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 good to get a win....but I'll be the one to say it, that was one boring game. Randle break a collar bone? Since I had to miss last night I had to follow on Twitter and Danny Shapiro mentioned he was on crutches. I started to watch the replay this afternoon but have only made it to Lamar's 1st TD. Randle took a hard hit on the opening kickoff and limped to the sideline. Quote
