KABrother88
Langley's total Saturday night came out to 206 yards in punt returns. Went to the SLC website to see where he stood for the year and they don't have individual PR leaders listed. However, they do have team stats. Per the Lamar stats, Langley has 241 yards retuning with 206 coming Saturday night. The 2 next highest team totals are SFA at 218 and UCA at 212. No one else has surpassed 200 yards...so Langley'a single game total was more than 8 of the other team team season totals. 206 is also more than 3 teams (HBU, Nicholls & UIW) have combined. geezer
Don't want to diminish Langley's performance or the overall LU Special Teams effort as it was excellent Saturday. That being said the losing team always gets more opportunities to return the ball (at least on kickoffs) than the winning team does so great numbers of return yards isn't necessarily a great thing for the team. Kickoffs yes, punts no cause that means your defense has stopped the opponent outside of FG range or the no-mans land where it's too long for a FG but a punt won't net you much. And actuall Langley went into the HBU game with negative yardage in PRs (5 for -9). Against HBU he had 3 for 28, against Nicholls he had 4 for 16 then 6 for 206 Saturday. I would suspect his rising numbers has a direct correlation to the sputtering offense. If they are having success you have to make plays in other areas. I wouldn't be surprised if the staff told him that if he calls for a fair catch there better be someone breathing on him...otherwise try to make a play.
