Cards at Abiline Christian

Cards are scheduled to play at 4 PM following the ladies game. Massey ratings predictions have the Cards as the favorite, but ACU can be tough at home. ACU is currently sitting at 1-4 in the conference with their only win coming against SFA at home. While SFA appears to be down this year they are still a team that has Lamar's number for years at this point. ACU lost to SELA in their last game at home so they will be looking to get back on the winning track. Massey has Lamar with a two point edge. This is a game the Cards need if they are going to compete and make the conference tourney. Peck em Cards.

With 1:30 to go, Lamar Women are getting blown out 77 - 54.

Yes the ladies went stone cold shooting just 17% in the second half as they loose their first conference game and fall to 4-1 in conference and a tie with ACU for second in the conference depending on what the SFA ladies do later this afternoon.

After five minutes of play the Cards are down by four as ACU is 5-8 from the field with two three pointers.

At the under 12 timeout Lamar is up by six 18-12 on two three pointers by Lincoln Davis.

With 3:56 left in the first half Lamar is up by ten at 28-18 and will be shooting a free throw coming out of the media timeout.

ACU makes a last second shot before the half but Lamar is up by nine at 34-25. Cards shooting about 44% so far, rebounds are about equal. ACU has 11 fouls to Lamar's six but three of Lamar's fouls are on Nzeakor.

Halftime, Lamar 34, ACU 25. LU has only 4 turnovers, but need to improve on FT shooting (60%) in the 2nd half along with sinking a higher percentage of 3 pointers (2 of 10). Nzeakor saddled with 3 personal fouls in first half.

At the under 16 minute timeout Lamar is up by 11 at 40-29 but Chatman picks up his third foul to create some foul trouble for the Cards with Nzeakor already on the bench with three fouls. Cards are giving up too many offensive rebounds to ACU.

11:45 left in the game and Lamar is up by 14 (51-37) but now have four fouls on Nzeakor following a technical foul call after Nzeakor got fouled hard by an ACU player and Bosha picked up his fourth foul to initiate this timeout.

7:11 left in the game and the Cards hanging on to an eight point lead as the Cards haven't made a field goal in close to four minutes and have three players with four fouls (Bosha, Nzeakor and Chatman)

3:41 left in the game and it is now tied up as ACU storms back with Lamar's foul troubles and turnovers. Cards have 13 second half turnovers and Nzeakor has fouled out.

18 seconds left in the game and it is tied at 64 with the Cards having possession.

Cards commit another turnover with 6 seconds left and ACU goes down and makes a three pointer to win the game. That sucks.

Well, we gave the game away, played good defense but was 69% from the FT line and horrible from 3 point line..

How to win the close game is something the Cards still need to learn. You have to really play your best defense, make your free throws and avoid turnovers in the close games and the Cards haven't showed they can do that yet. During the last minute the Cards gave up two three point shots although granted the last one was a near half court prayer, missed a critical free throw and committed their last of ten second half turnovers.

What did njekafor do to get a tech? I watched the game. I didnt see him do anything, but the broadcast was fuzzy. How did Abilene Christian come back from 15 down. I stepped away to complete a chore and when i returned the score was tied.

I assume Nzeakor said something he shouldn't have after being fouled hard. Following that tech, the Cards just seemed to have everything start going wrong. Made very few field goals, committed multiple turnovers, listening to the radio call got no calls from the refs as several times the announcer mentioned what might have been over the back calls that weren't made.

I saw nzekefor get up and walk in the opposite direction. The guy who fouled him should have been thrown out of the game. I watched the Abeliene Christian broadcast, when the guy released the shot at the end of the game, the announcer said "this is not going to count" he was stunned when the refs said it did. I am upset. I want them to do well in conference play.
