geezer Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Tough game for the Cards this evening as Sam Houston is currently tied for second in the conference riding a four game winning streak that includes a win at UNO after starting the conference season of with losses at UCA and a home loss to HBU. Overall the conference looks like it is very evenly matched so a win at their place would be a huge step forward for the men. Quote
geezer Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 9:00 minutes left in the first half and Cards up by three. 21-18. Turnovers, fouls and rebounds are all about equal. Both teams in the bonus on free throws. Quote
geezer Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 (edited) Cards jumped out to a nine point lead at the 11:05 point in the game and then Lamar got into the first half foul trouble with a couple players picking up their 2nd fouls and sitting. With the substitutions Lamar couldn't find the right player to shoot the ball, had some fouls and turnovers and over the course of the next nine minutes lost the lead and got down by as many as five points before a couple of three pointers in the last minute and a half closed the gap to one point at half time. First half star of the game is Chris Galbreath a 6-7 junior that came off the bench to score 20 points. Galbreath averages just less than ten points a game and just less than twenty minutes a game, so typical for a Lamar game somebody on the other team has a career night going that normally isn't that significant of a contributor. Good news is that Weisbrod hasn't got going yet. Hopefully he'll get going in the second half. Edited January 20, 2017 by geezer Quote
geezer Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Terrible second half start by the Cards as they are scoreless over the first four and a half minutes so far while giving up thirteen points to Sam. Quote
geezer Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Eleven minutes left in the game and the Cards are down by twelve after getting down by sixteen. Will have to really play solid the rest of the way if there is a chance of winning. Quote
geezer Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 At the under 8 media timeout the Cards are down by 17 at 69-52. Quote
geezer Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 No defense after the midway point of the first half. Sam Houston shoots 68% in the second half, to many from inside the lane. Cards wind up with 21 turnovers, get beat by 7 on the boards. Sam proved they knew how to stop Weisbrod, and Nzeakor and Chatman haven't been able to stay out of foul trouble either. Quote
