Baseball Weekend Series versus Fairfield

Cards open four game weekend series against Fairfield this evening at 6:00 PM followed by two games on Saturday and a single game Sunday.

Cards take the early lead in game one with two runs in the bottom of the first.

Fairfield score three runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead and the Cards get one more in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at three. Driskill continues to pitch into the seventh despite giving up the three runs in the sixth.

Cards drop the opening game of the weekend 7-6. Cards gave up runs in the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th innings and couldn't overcome the last run given up in the ninth.

Cards take the second game of the series 19-9. However the Cards gave up eight runs in the last four innings. Relief pitchers need to step up a little as you can't count on the offense to bail the team out. Cards win the third game 5-1 and are assured of at least a series split with game four starting tomorrow morning at 10:30. Edited February 26, 2017 by geezer

Lamar drops the fourth game of the weekend series 6-2 and come away with an overall split. LU goes on the road this next week traveling to Austin for a game with UT on Tuesday followed by a weekend series at Edinburg against UT Rio Grand Valley (Pan American). The road experience will be big as the Cards open conference the following two weekends on the road at Sam Houston and SELA.
