We didn't get the result we hoped for in the opener with LU losing 6-5 but when you think about it, down 6-1 heading into the 6th they scored 4 runs in the 6th and 7th to get within one run but that was as close as they got on the night. LU did have 2 men on in the 9th but the Cards couldn't push across either man as LU fell to 10-9 on the season. Lamar is also dead last in conference with an 0-4 record. If they are going to salvage this season Lamar really needs to win both games against SELA this weekend. The problem is SELA is first in conference tied with SAM and McNeese. C'mon Cards, lets get over the hump and win on the road. You did a respectable job last weekend against but they were a doughnut shy of a load all 3 games. The Cards allowed 3 runs early but it was a 3 run 5th that put LU in a big hole. Time to bounce back and take this series Cards!

Have you noticed that seems to be a recurring theme in all sports. Football has had Sam Houston as the conference opener three years straight and usually they would schedule their bye week for the week before conference started. I think it was few years ago basketball opened with SFA. But whether it is opening game or last game of conference season you still have to win against the best to be the best.

Cards salvage game three of the series with a 13-5 victory. This leaves them sitting at 1-5 and tied for eighth place. Cards play Northwestern St in a non-conference game mid-week game and then have three with Incarnate Word over the weekend.
