KABrother88
Cards take game one of the weekend series 8-6. Improve conference record to 2-5, still need the next two and get a sweep. I read that Reid Russell hammered a HR INTO the 20+ MPH wind yesterday. 3rd baseman Chad Fleischman had a wail of a day going 4 for 4 with 4 RBIs Also saw we had a change in the weekend rotation. It had been Tanner Driskell, Carson Lance & Jace Campbell. Lance got the Friday start yesterday and today is scheduled to be Jimmy Johnson (was the closer) and Galen Andrews. Looks like Johnson and Driskell may have flip-flopped as Driskell has finished both of the last 2 games.
KABrother88
Lamar gets the walk-off winner today as Fleischman smacked a 2 run HR to left to cap the 3-1 win. The HR was his third hit of the day meaning he is now 7 for his last 8 with 6 RBIs

eagle eye
Lamar is looking good. I'm glad they salvaged a win against SELA last Sunday and the Cards kept up the good play by beating NWST Wednesday. By taking the first two of the series against UIW it seems that Coach Davis has found something in changing his starting rotation and changing closers. Looks like those moves are going to pay some dividends. The complete game by Johnson yesterday was awesome. The Cards have won 3 straight conference games, 4 if you could Wednesday's win over NWST. For some reason that game and the two this week in Natchitoches are all non-conference games. I'm not sure why and even a good explanation won't make me understand when we play a conference opponent sometimes it isn't a conference game, or series. Even if it doesn't necessarily count as a conference game you know it's another team you dominated once it comes time for the conference tournament. If Lamar can keep on this recent roll they could change the whole complexion of the SLC. Nine days ago Lamar was at rock bottom in conference and since then they have gone 4-2 and jumped 4 spots in conference. They will play inferior teams over the next two weeks and they should be right in the thick of the conference race. No disrespect but Lamar's opponents in the next two weeks aren't very good. UIW isn't good, NWST isn't good, HBU isn't good and NOLA is so-so at this point. If Lamar goes 8-1 in the next two weeks with their only loss being to Baylor, I'll friggin take it! Despite stumbling out of the SLC gate it seems Coach Davis has found a little chemistry and if they can ride that wave they will solidly be in the top 8 in the SLC and own an 8-5 conference record and would be 22-11 overall. Hell yeah, I'll take that! LU can begin that journey today with a series sweep of UIW. Go Cards!!!
geezer
Cards took the broom to UIW with a 5-2 win this afternoon. Good weekend for the Cards as they improve the conference record to 4-5 and tied for fifth with UNO and UIW.
