Today is the annual media day for the Southland conference. New Lamar Head Coach Mike Schultz will take the podium at 2:45. Along with him will be Senior offensive lineman Matt Oubre and Junior defensive back Rodney Randle. Coverage can be viewed in ESPN 3.

Lamar was picked to finish 7th in the preseason poll. Kind of surprising since the only had 1 representative on the preseason All-SLC teams. Everyone except Lamar and Northwestern State had multiple selections. The poll reveals that voters see a big drop off from the top 6 teams to the bottom 5.

Fortunately preseason poles mean nothing. But they do give the bottom targets to shoot for.

If the old staff was still here, I would probably agree with the poll, however this ain't the old crew.

Saw that we were picked 2nd from the bottom in that publication. Had us ahead of only Northwestern State.
