KABrother88 Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Today is the annual media day for the Southland conference. New Lamar Head Coach Mike Schultz will take the podium at 2:45. Along with him will be Senior offensive lineman Matt Oubre and Junior defensive back Rodney Randle. Coverage can be viewed in ESPN 3. Quote
KABrother88 Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 Lamar was picked to finish 7th in the preseason poll. Kind of surprising since the only had 1 representative on the preseason All-SLC teams. Everyone except Lamar and Northwestern State had multiple selections. The poll reveals that voters see a big drop off from the top 6 teams to the bottom 5. Team (first place votes) - Points 1.) Sam Houston St. (20) - 200 2.) Central Arkansas (2) - 177 3.) McNeese St. - 163 4.) Southeastern Louisiana - 136 5.) Nicholls St. - 133 6.) Stephen F. Austin - 114 7.) Lamar - 68 8.) Abilene Christian - 66 9.) Houston Baptist - 56 10.) Northwestern St. - 49 11.) Incarnate Word - 48 Quote
geezer Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Fortunately preseason poles mean nothing. But they do give the bottom targets to shoot for. Quote
Dracula Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 If the old staff was still here, I would probably agree with the poll, however this ain't the old crew. Quote

Skinny1 Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I heard Dave Campbell's Texas football had us at 10th? or 11th?:uzi: Saw that we were picked 2nd from the bottom in that publication. Had us ahead of only Northwestern State. Quote
