geezer Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I don't know much about them but I have read on the Northwestern forum that their OL is banged up. They have had a tough schedule. Remember this statement a few years down the road when people are clamoring for Lamar to play more FBS schools. I remember another school that dropped football several years ago that played three straight FBS schools for money games and then were too banged up to compete in their own conference. Quote
Big T Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 WHen i watched them play Nichols NSU really gashed them with the run. Then they would run a play action and heave it long. So they pretty much have a run and gun type of offense. Our D-Line and LB's are going to be very important. Their defense also pitched a shut out even though they got lucky a few times with dropped passes by the Nichols WR's. Quote

Guest bigred360 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Northwestern has recruited well since Peveto has been there. From what 72 stated it appears they are strong on the defensive side of the ball but I'm not worried because our offense is the best part of our team. I think we have to focus on stopping the run and coach up the special teams. Quote

I think we have to focus on stopping the run and coach up the special teams. Is our offense better than their defense is effective? Is our defense worse than their offense is bad? Sounds like both teams have some issues but we also have the special teams monkey on our back. If the O Line blocks for bevil it should be an exciting game. Quote

Guest jhanel Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Our offense is not as bad as you guys think. Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Our offense is not as bad as you guys think. Sorry, I don't mean it's bad, I mean more it's not the strength of your team and it has more apparent weaknesses. (Inexperienced QB and OLine that is apparently not in good health) You guys scored 35 on Nicholls, you must be alright. Quote
LU1991 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Since Northwestern played McNeese to a two point game, this game should give us a good read on the rest of the season. Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Saw this display on campus yesterday. And while I'm adding photos check out these awesome LU washers one of my friends received as a present. Guest CardAmbassador Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Where can I get some of those washers? They are awesome. Rustic door on Boston avenue in Nederland. Apparently they were pretty expensive though. (hope that's licensed merch) Go LU!! Headed out to the tailgating in just a bit. Quote
Big T Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I have to work the Hunter Hays concert tonight :( so ya'll keep me updated! Those washers are freakin awsome!!! Quote
coachacola Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Game won't start at 6 due to a earlier power outage. May start closer to 7 but not sure. Quote
TBonesLU Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Per Chris Dabe on twitter, it is starting at 7:30. I'll be cutting it close with my plans afterwards. Oh, well. Quote
lcm2007ms Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Very disappointing crowd tonight. Agreed Quote
Mike Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Defense playing good early. Prescott with a sack and hicks with a huge hit on an attempted screen. Quote
Mike Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 TD pass bevil to Jackson on last play off 1st. 7-7 Quote
coachacola Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Nice catch by Jackson in corner of endzone. Those penalties against NW State really helped but I like the balance of the LU offense so far. Quote
Mike Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Nw st drives down and scores to make the score 13-7. Drive was kept alive by back to back offside penalties by the lu defense after they held nw st. Extra point was blocked. Quote
Mike Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 3rd down defense is killing lamar tonight. 20-7 nwst Quote
