geezer
Ladies are in a tough game with SFA, down by two at the end of the first quarter. SFA is undefeated in conference with LU one game back with a loss to UCA.
geezer
It's been a game of runs with the Cards taking the lead for part of each quarter but SFA taking the lead at the end of each quarter. Half time and SFA is up by five. Both of Lamar's starting guards have two fouls, with Barrs picking up two fouls in the first quarter and not playing at all in the 2nd quarter and Pimentel picking up her second foul about midway into the second quarter. geezer
End of the third quarter and LU has come back to take a two point lead going to the fourth quarter despite Barrs picking up her third foul early in the quarter and spending the rest of the quarter on the bench. Going to the fourth quarter finds Barrs and Pimentel with three fouls each and Kinard with four fouls. SFA has two players with three fouls. geezer
Kinard fouls out with 4:54 left in the game and the ladies up by three 64-61. Ladies will need to keep up the pressure on SFA and play smart to win. Ladies have shot poorly from the free throw line so far today and free throws may be come important at the end of the game. geezer
Ladies win 79-65 over SFA and takes the lead in the conference standings. Big game for the ladies overall but especially for Baileigh O'Dell coming off the bench when Barrs and Pimentel got in foul trouble to give LU quality minutes. Also after Kinard fouled out she got a big steal and sank her free throws to extend the lead. Lamar made their free throws down the stretch securing a big win. geezer
Men's game has Lamar out to a decent start and slowly working out to a seven point lead at the under eight minute time out. LU 20 - SFA 13.
geezer
Men complete the first half with a strong defensive effort and balanced scoring offensively to finish with a thirteen point lead at 39 - 26. SfA is without their top scorer in this game and their is still a half to play. Hopefully the men will continue their performance in the second half. geezer
At the under twelve timeout the Cards are up by 17 at 55 - 38. Weisbrod played most of the first half but so far has only played about two minutes of this half. Atwood has played well in place of Weisbrod but picked up a technical foul as the timeout started. Weisbrod came back in to replace him. I thought maybe Price was trying to rest Weisbrod as he twisted an ankle at ACU in the last game. geezer
7:36 left in the game and the Cards are up by eighteen. Bosha is having a very strong performance so far. On Weisbrod he came in for about a minute and a half when Atwood picked up the tech but then Atwood came back in for him so it maybe that Weisbrod is being held out as long as the Cards have the good lead. geezer
LU wins 76 - 54. Big win for the Cards. Nzeakor has another double double, Bosha had a strong performance with a double double also. Harrison had one of his best games as he scored thirteen points but on made one three pointer. As the game progressed Harrison drove the ball toward the basket and got some good jumpers and layups. A good team effort and may well be the best full game team performance of the year. Men travel to Northwestern State on Wednesday in what can be a dangerous game as they are winless in conference and the Cards have a bad habit of playing to the level of the competition. baller
A solid blowout win over a team we have not beat in about the last 10 tries.SFA sure has not got their money's worth in conference out of this coach. Some of their fans on their fan site expect another year of going to a low level tournament. This high priced coach is failing in big games on the road and their fans aren't happy. baller
It is fair to point out that SFA was playing without one of their best shooters and players who has a leg injury according to their fan site.

Fair.. but can't live and die by one player. If you do, then not getting your monies worth out of a high priced coach is fact.
geezer
Wouldn't it be nice to only be complaining about not getting to the NCAA as opposed to wondering if your school will make the SLC tourney? I think overall the SLC has a lot more parity in it this year than there has been for several years. Nicholls has eight games left and at least five of those games are on the road and against teams that can easily beat them on any given night. UNO has three losses with six games to play, four games on the road and three games against teams currently in the top four of the standings. SFA has three losses with eight games to play but only three left on the road and all three of those are games they probably should win. Lamar is currently the eighth and last seed, have seven games left to play with five of them on the road and two of them against Sam Houston and SFA again with the other road games at NWST, HBU and McNeese. Even Lamar's two home games will be tough as neither the AMCC or IW road wins were easy.
baller
I believe the. 3 key games will be against Sam,SFA and McNeese on the road.If we stay healthy the other games against mostly bottom feeders will be wins. The McNeese game should be their last regular game in Burton Coliseum as next year they will be in a new $40+ million dollar facility next to the football stadium.A good crowd there will help both the Cardinal teams.Walkons restaurant near Burton is sports bar with good Cajun food. One of the owners is Drew Brees and it was started by former LSU walkons. geezer
I agree those should be the key games, but the other three will require Lamar to play the full 40 minutes also. Even though NWST and IW are currently winless in conference how many times have the Cards lost those games over the last eight to ten years. The HBU game at home was a tough one and HBU had at least two players out for that game that at minimum got regular playing time. Not sure if either of those players are back.
