Ladies play at 2:00 and men at 4:30 PM today. Ladies should continue their winning ways as they easily defeated the Islanders in Corpus. Men on the other won a tight ball game in Corpus but would expect another tight game as the Islanders while not winning many this year have defeated a couple of teams that Lamar lost to.

Lady Cards get off to a slow start and are down by five at the end of the first quarter. Cards have two players on the bench with two fouls each in Bowers and Pimental. Lamar shot just 25% in the first quarter as opposed to 42% for AMCC.

Ladies battle back in the second quarter and take a one point lead into the half, despite continued low shooting percentage and foul troubles. Cards on top 24-23 at the half. Four of the Cards five starters have at least two fouls and Mathis has three. Cards are leading in rebounding to make up for the lower than normal shooting percentage. Ladies have twelve fouls compared to AMCC's seven. Ladies will need to cut down on the fouls in the second half to get the win.

Ladies have a seven point lead at the end of the third quarter. Ladies shooting percentage has continued to rise slowly, Cards did better in only committing three fouls in the third quarter and AMCC shooting percentage has fallen off.

Ladies get the win 65-59. The ladies maintain their half game lead in the conference standings and are now assured of at worst the fourth place seed in the conference tourney. Edited by geezer

Men get off to another slow start as they have failed to score through the first four minutes of the game and are down by seven at the first media timeout. Nzeakor picked up a foul in the first minute so his ability to stay out of foul trouble may be an early key.

Second media timeout finds the men down by eleven as they still haven't really got anything going on offense. Even though the Cards may have a slight height advantage they have been unable to get the ball inside consistently and have taken several wild shots.

At the under eight minute media time out and the Cards are down by ten. Nzeakor picked up his second foul at about the ten minute mark so the ability to hold the deficit near ten are creep back into the game will be critical over the rest of the first half. AMCC started out with hot shooting as they are currently at 53% and have cooled off from the start of the game.

Final media time out of the first half and the Cards have cut the deficit to five points and will have the ball coming out of the time out from a jump ball situation with the possession arrow pointing for the Cardinals.

Men are down by four at the half, 34-30. Nzeakor and Frenchwood each have two fouls and four others have one each so no serious foul trouble for the start of the second half but Nzeakor hasn't been able to get into the flow of the game. Cards are getting out rebounded and have no second chance points. Cards have two offensive rebounds compared to six for AMCC.

1:27 left in the game, the Cards are up by three at 73-70 and have the ball coming out of a time out. Islanders hit a three just before the time out so this is of course is a key offensive possession for Lamar. Need to use up most of the 30 second clock and get a score.

After trading baskets the Cards have the ball with 26 seconds left and a three point lead. The Islanders will try to force a turnover but if not will have to foul.
