Dracula
I don't want to rip Ray Woodard. He did what he could and should be commended for resurrecting the football program but he was not the guy, that could lead Lamar back to the top. The culture of his program always reminded me of the culture of Jason Garrett's Dallas Cowboys. Everyone plays hard but that extra spark is missing. Enter Schultz and Co. and something has changed. I've always been a supporter of Schultz and Co., even during the dark days of the first year. Even thru this year's 1-4 start. During that 1-4 start, you started to see bit's and pieces of something. Lamar's D legitimately forcing 3 and outs against Texas Tech, the 28 point comeback against Northwestern, the blocked FG versus UIW. The ass whoppin' they put on Sam, and going into SFA's homecoming game, running for 369 yards, for a 24-17 victory, and for their third consecutive win. Which brings us to this past week versus Central Arkansas. A #19 FCS ranked team, a team that is fighting not only for the conference championship but an invitation to the FCS playoffs, and, by the way, a team that Lamar has never beaten. Lamar passes for 369 yards and a halftime lead of 35-16. What the hell is going on here? For the last two quarters, the D stuffed one of the best offenses, in the conference, and Lamar won their forth in a row, 38-24. Lamar started at 1-4,0-3, and now is 5-4,4-3. Lamar should be 6-4,5-3, going into the last game versus conference leading McNeese. McNeese has been looking beatable the last few weeks. With so much on the line, I would be worried about playing a red hot Lamar just now. Something fundamentally has changed, in the Lamar football program. I think that it is time to give Schultz and Co. their due.

Initially I saw an improvement in the offensive line and it has continued to improve thru the season, and lately the defensive line has begun to hold it’s own. I know we brought in some new JU CO help and they are now putting it together. Just hope we keep it going this week against HBU.
Bird
This team is young, and I think they've finally bought into the coaches and the program. They finally believe they can win, which is going to carry into the off season, and next year should be fun!
geezer
After years of being optimistic concerning Lamar's football future the pessimist in me has taken hold and I will pretend I'm from Missouri and wait until they show me the success. At this point in the season there is no reason Lamar should not end this year with a winning season at the minimum, but I'll wait to see it and if asked to predict I will go with a HBU upset just to avoid disappointment. Here's hoping Lamar shows me success.

Hopefully we beat HBU, then let it all hangout against the Cowgirls. “McNeese, where second rate is first class!”
