Lamar MBB at Houston

At the first media time out Houston is up by four points. Lamar is getting beat to the loose balls and Houston has gotten the rebounding advantage so far. Lamar committed a shot clock violation just before the media time out and Nzeakor picked up a technical foul for slamming the ball following the call. Early frustration and the lack of discipline will really hurt the Cards.

Lamar played pretty good the first three to four minutes then hit a cold spell when Nzeakor went out. Got things turned around and got back to with in one point at about the seven minute mark but then the cold shooting and bad shot selection took the lead again and LU is down by 19 at the half.

Final score Houston 79 - Lamar 56. Nzeakor finishes the game with a double-double despite sitting out close to 15 minutes of the first half because of two fouls ( one personal and one technical). Neakor really held his own and controlled Houston's big man despite being outsized. If Lamar is going to be successful either Foster or Sullivan is going to have to step up and the guards are going to have to figure out they are part of a team effort and none of them are capable of carrying the team on a consistent basis. Each of the guards tend to force quick shots from the outside and force the ball on drives where they hope to draw a foul because they can't consistently finish the drive with a decent shot. Either Price doesn't have any kind of half court offensive plays that encourages ball movement into and out of the post position to open up a good shot or the players don't have the discipline to run a play. Next game is at Cal State Bakesrfield next Thursday. If they play a complete game LU can probably get a win. Edited by geezer

Agree that either Foster or Sullivan need to develop into something - they both look they have the physical talent. But are a liability on both ends of the court currently. Our guards may have issues due to our overall lack of size, especially against a team as long as Houston.
