Coach Schultz said in his press conference that the staff is still working on a few guys and there could be more signings before the day is over. The early signing period will be open until the 21st. The later period will open on Feb 6th.

WHERE DO YOU GO TO WATCH PRESS CONFERENCE.CANT SEEM TO FIND IT.

Looks like we signed 10 players already. 4 offensive linemen, 3 defensive backs, 1 QB, 1 defensive lineman, & 1 linebacker. Also breaks down as 6 JUCO transfers and 4 high school players.

Looks like a good start to me, but interesting that there are no receivers or running backs yet.

Saw where Northwestern State also signed 10 recruits today and the vast majority were Texans. Only one I saw of their signees that was on the Lamar list was McCray, big 2-star OL out of Ennis HS.

Saw where Northwestern State also signed 10 recruits today and the vast majority were Texans. Only one I saw of their signees that was on the Lamar list was McCray, big 2-star OL out of Ennis HS.

 

Sam didn’t even announce any signings. Looked on KatFans and they only have 1 known commit. Not sure if he just didn’t sign ot if they are waiting until February to announce the entire class.

A few notes:

 

New turf coming in a year or two.

 

Still eyeing some FBS transfers but not at liberty to say.

 

Also looking at more receivers.

 

Should have new OC in a few days. Schultz said since he's so involved in the offense it wasn't a priority to get a new OC that quickly. Looking for someone to do the play-calling.

A few surprises in the 20 signees. More than a few JUCO players (14). Also Wells (DB) from Beaumont United was not mentioned even though he was listed as a recent commit. Definitely concentrated on needs and size.
