2019 Lamar Football Schedule

Featured Replies

In record fashion the 2019 schedule has been released. It’s a 12 game season for FCS and there will be 6 home games (2 non-conference and 4 SLC)

8/31 - vs Bethel College (NAIA)

9/7 - vs Mississippi Valley State (FCS)

9/14 - @ Texas A&M

9/21 - @ Southeastern Louisiana

9/28 - vs SFA

10/5 - vs Abilene Christian

10/12 - @ Sam Houston State

10/19 - @ Incarnate Word

11/2 - vs Central Arkansas

11/9 - @ Northwestern State

11/16 - @ Houston Baptist

11/23 - vs McNeese State

According to Massey Ratings, Miss Valley State was 1-10 and rated the worst FCS team in the country. I like the fact the LU has two home games to get ready for Texas A&M and conference play but couldn't they find at least a little tougher competition?
I looked up Bethel TN and they were one of the top NAIA teams this year. They put up more points against Kentucky Christian (winning 92-12) than LU did.

But isn’t the alma mater of Jerry Rice?

A&M plays defending national champions Clemson prior to Lamar, so odds we will be undefeated and they won’t be going into that game. So we could be favored! LOL

Lamar -7 sounds about right.

You mean Lamar + 70 I think, although A&M might lighten up as they play Auburn the following week.

Or as former Lamar basketball coach Jack Martin said going into a game at U of H when they were ranked #2 in the nation (1968) “ not sure how we can win this game, but I’m pretty sure that throughout history, more miraculous things have happened “.

Odd Ball also was concerned with “negative vibes “. The LU faithful need to promote “positive vibes”.
