Mens game at the first half under eight minute time out Sam Houston is up by one at 12-11. Generally a pretty even game to this point with neither team shooting very good and turnovers even at seven which is still too many. Sam is making some three pointers but LU is shooting good again from the free throw line.

Cards have two games on the road next week and even though they beat both of the up coming opponents at home will need to really play well to get at least a split next week. With the win today and an SFA loss the Cards have moved all the way up to fifth place. Five games left with two on the road and three at home to finish. All five games should be very competitive but games the Cards can win.

Lamar retired James Gulley’s jersey at halftime.

I remember watching him play. He had a smooth shooting touch for a big man. I think he around 50 offers but chose LU. Those were the days!

My best memories of Gulley was going head to head with Karl Malone (LaTech) and holding his own. I think Gulley was one of the few players Malone couldn’t push around or intimidate.

Pat Foster set up camp in Newton--wouldn't let him out of his sight. Gulley not only held his own against Malone (who was 2 years older) but he also did so against Duke in a preseason NIT game in Houston. As for retiring his jersey, it was about time!
