Guest CardAmbassador Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/lamar/article/Dabe-Lamar-should-let-RB-Garrett-sit-heal-2215942.php DPG, the spark to the Cards running game is in a difficult position right now. does he sit for the remainder of the season and seek a medical redshirt hardship or does he play to help a struggling LU backfield? This is a what do you think type poll. Obviously DPG will do what he feels is best for him. POLL at top. Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I voted for him to sit. I do need to retract my earlier statement about there not being a significant drop off from DPG to Venson. I still like Venson but he is not the same type of back as DPG. Venson is small and really works best in limited contact situations. DPG can handle contact. Quote
Mike Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I wouldnt get hopes up for Garrett to return this season. Let's say I would be surprised if he doesn't sit out and get a medical redshirt. Quote
Guest bigred360 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I voted for him to sit out the season and be 100% healthy next year. That is not going to happen this season. Get the medical redshirt and come back for two more seasons. Quote
DJLocal Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Yeah I agree he should sit out the rest of the season and be able to get the medical redshirt. Don't wont him to get hurt again and also allows us to see what we have for depth. Quote
05BigRed Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I don't think he is big enough to have a big game against the better teams in our conference. If we want a REAL running game we need someone much bigger. Sure DPG had good games against Texas college and selva but they are nowhere near sh, ca, etc... Quote
coachacola Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Too bad LeFredrick Ford picked SFA over Lamar. I hear he's not getting much playing time at SFA, but maybe he's hurt. I bet he wouldn't mind running behind Campbell and Oden. Quote
puddin tane Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 never know what/who next year might bring...... Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 This wasn't a very divisive poll question. lol. Anyways, I agree that DPG might not be the best size but I think he hits the hole better than Logan and certainly better than Venson but that's not the type of runner Venson is. We will need to recruit at least 2 RB's next season. I'm hoping to see someone 5'10 or more plus more speed than what we currently have, shorts not bad but 5'6" is a little small even for FCS from what I have seen. Lefredrick, if you get tired of Nac give us a call. :) Quote
geezer Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 At this point he will have missed four games. Unless he is 100% or thinks he won't qualify for a medical red shirt he should sit out. Lamar needs to recruit a 6' 2", 220 pounder that can run over people even if he doesn't have breakaway speed. This is the type of runner that both USA and Nwst ran over us with. Quote
