geezer
Women at 2:00 PM men to follow. Based on the play by both LU teams to date this should be a long afternoon.
Skinny1
I have not been a fan of Saturday afternoon double headers due to historical low attendance at these games. But based on the attendance this year I feel it will make no difference unless SFA has a large contingent. Attendance at MBB games seems to be back to the level of Jack Martin’s final years as coach in the McDonald Gym, except now there are less students attending. geezer
Ladies up by eleven after the first quarter. LU 22 - SFA 11. Cards shooting good from the field so far. Cards shot nearly 50% compared to 27% for SFA.

Skinny1
Halftime, Lamar’s 15 point lead down to 4, 31-27. Lamar hot start fizzled in the 2nd quarter, scoring only 9 points.
geezer
Lamar shooting goes cold and the ladies fail to score over the last five and a half minutes of the second quarter but hold on to a four point lead at the half. Cards up 31-27.

Skinny1
Game today is the annual alumni game. Over 40 former players attended the reception last night, including Mike Oliver.
geezer
Ladies played a strong game but in the end failure to execute the half court offense and shooting the ball with fifteen seconds left when they could have run the clock to just a few seconds left gave SFA the advantage. SFA wins 54-53.
geezer
At the first media timeout the men are up by one (7-6) after opening the game on a 7-2 spurt the Cards have not scored the last couple of minutes. lamarfan360
Lamar has turned the ball over on 4 straight possessions!
lamarfan360
Halftime 32-31 Lamar. If the Cardinals can cut down on the turnovers, the red and white have a great chance of winning.
geezer
End of the first half finds LU up by one, 32-31. Game following a similar pattern to the ladies game in that the Cards moved out to a lead and through poor offensive possesions have slowly allowed SFA to close the gap and trading the lead over the last couple of minutes. Lamar has fourteen turnovers. Edited January 25, 2020 by geezer
Skinny1
5 minutes left in game, Lamar down 59-57. It is crunch time.

Skinny1
4 minutes left, Lamar has just commented their 20th turnover, too many for a team like SFA.

lamarfan360
How do we keep losing games in the final 5 minutes?
geezer
Lamar doesn't have a point guard. As good of scorer that Buster is at times, his ball handling and defense are a liability. Jefferson and Holmes commit too many turnovers also. Buster and Holmes had 15 of the 25 turnovers. You can't have that out of the point guards. Jefferson added two in ten minutes of play. SFA won the battle of the boards by seven. Sullivan only had three rebounds.
Skinny1
Lamar played well the first 10 minutes of the game, and held Harris, SFA’s best player to 5 points in the first half. But, with that, Cards could not really pull away. My point of view is SFA is a much better team and physically manhandled Lamar’s smaller/ lighter players. Muoka did play tough and showed promise for the future.
