geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 No scoring in the third quarter. Lamar will have the wind at their back in the fourth quarter. McNeese ball on the Lamar 48 yard line. Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 McNeese continues the drive from the third quarter and finishes it with an 11 yard touchdown run at the 12:55 mark of the fourth quarter to retake the lead 20-13. Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Lamar executes a nice drive aided by a McNeese penalty on a play that would have forced Lamar to probably give up the ball, scores a touchdown on a fourth and one at about the five yard line, on a pass from Dummett to the full back. Game tied at 20 with 4:33 left in the game. Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 For what it's worth, Sam Houston up 24-7 over Nicholls mid way through the second quarter. Sam is killing Nicholls Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Lamar defense holds McNeese to a three and out. Lamar takes over with 4:33 left in the game on their own 33. LU has one timeout left. A score could win it, but a couple of first downs could run out the clock. Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 McNeese defense steps up and holds Lamar to three and out. Call timeout with 1:55 left. After Lamar punt McNeese has the ball on their own 29. Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Lamar defense gives up a couple of big runs, but holds McNeese at the Lamar 31. McNeese has fourth and 9. McNeese chooses to try a long pass but Lamar picks it off to force overtime. Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Defense still having trouble stopping the run. D-line is improving but not good enough yet. Lama stops McNeese on third down at about the five yard line, forcing McNeese to decide whether to go for it or attempt a field goal to take the lead. Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 (edited) McNeese goes for it and gets the first down at the two. McNeese scores on the next play to take the lead. Cards block the extra point try. Score McNeese 26 Lamar 20. Lamar will have their chance to win it. Edited March 13, 2021 by geezer Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Lamar only picks up five yards on their first three plays Fourth and five need a first down or the game is over. Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Lamar picks up 15 yards and sets up 1st and goal at the five. Dummett follows up with a five yard touchdown run. The extra point can win it. Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 In Huntsville the final score is Sam 71 - Nicholls 17. Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 (edited) I am getting to be impressed with this coaching staff. We have made progress every week and we really are not beating ourselves. And this is being done with a bunch of players that have not played college football before and have not played together in a game until this Spring. Lamar was 3 of 5 in 4th down conversions today. Great win! Edited March 13, 2021 by Skinny1 Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 In Huntsville the final score is Sam 71 - Nicholls 17. Can not believe Nicholls, the #7 ranked FCS team this week got totally obliterated today. I believe Sam was ranked #12 & SELa was #18. Quote
PeckEm Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Nice win. Still hate the offense but the win is more important Quote
geezer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Thought I saw UIW at twenty five. No matter how you look at it, to be sitting one and two on the year with a team full of mostly freshmen and your three games were against previously or current top twenty five teams isn't terrible. Granted next week will be another major challenge. Quote

NorthoftheBorder Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Unbelievable Adversity that Morgan referred to in his tweet after the game? Quote
Skinny1 Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Unbelievable Adversity that Morgan referred to in his tweet after the game? I guess he meant the pandemic and all the protocols. Kinda getting tired of all these college coaches (football & basketball) acting like their team was the only ones that were impacted. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 I saw where the freshman McCarty was not on the 2 deep depth chart for the game after starting the first 2. Don Quote
