Cards take on Northwestern State this Saturday at 3pm at Provost-Umphrey Stadium. This will be the last home game for Lamar Spring season.

NW lost to Mcneese. I think we have a pretty good chance of winning this one.

I am hoping for a good competitive game.

 

Will also be tailgating at this one.

To bad you cannot tail gate and catch part of the baseball game at the same time.

Other SLC action today finds UIW and Nicholls in a shootout. 9:40 left in the first half finds Nicholls up 34-24. I think Nicholls has one more offensive possession so the difference at this point is Nicholls held UIW to a field goal on one possession. Remainder of the half Nicholls picks one off and force a couple of other stops while continuing to score touchdowns on quick drives. Nicholls up 55-24 at the half.

After a short kickoff, Northwestern St is moving the ball but throws an interception in the end zone that is returned out to the 27 yard line.

Lamar fails to convert on a fourth and two. Again the defense gets a turnover to give the Cards back the ball.

It is amazing how well Lamar is playing today. It is a sign of good coaching.

Lamar defense forces a three and out and take over on their own 37 yard line with 10:39 left in the half.

I don't want to take anything from the coaching but Northwestern State isn't close to what the rest of the SLC teams have been this spring. I do think the Lamar coaches have improved this team each week and I am sure this game is much different than it would have been if it was played in February as originally scheduled.

Not sure but I think Lamar had an offensive lineman go out with in injury near the end of the first quarter and maybe that is part of the offense stalling in their possessions in the 2nd quarter.
