geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Lamar defense stymies the Demons and block the punt for a touchdown 4:38 left in the 2nd quarter for a 28-0 lead. Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Demons' reinsert their starting quarterback following the block punt get a first down on a pass and a sixty three yard run for a touchdown. Now 28-7 Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Lamar fails to move the ball again and in fact another injury to an offensive lineman. Forced to punt. A good punt puts the ball at the Northwestern St 6 yard line with under two minutes in the half. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Good first half but the Cardinals except for the run defense. Their RB already has 150 yards rushing. Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 First possession for each team results in punts for both teams, but Northwestern St moved the ball better of the two. Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Lamar gets a good punt return from Kirkland Banks and moves the ball enough before the offense stall to make a 42 yard field goal to extend the lead to 31-7 with 5:11 left in the third quarter. Quote

NW State is driving with 1:00 left in the 3rd quarter. Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Lamar defense stiffens and Lamar offense gets the ball back with about 14:20 left in the game. Northwestern St doesn't appear to have any confidence to attempt a field goal. Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Offense fails to move the ball and a mishandled snap on the punt attempt turns the ball over to Northwestern St at the Lamar 25. Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 (edited) First play following the turnover and Adams gets a 25 yard touchdown to narrow the gap to 31-15 following a successful two point conversion. Lamar offense better figure out how to move the ball and drain the clock as 12:11 left in the fourth quarter is more than enough time for Northwestern St to overcome the deficit. geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Lamar move the ball to inside the Northwestern St 10 yard line before stalling with a 15 yard penalty and a missed field goal attempt that would have pretty much settled the game, but did chew up over six minutes. Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Lamar defense holds again and gives the ball back to the offense on a fourth down stop. Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Offense moves the ball down to the ten yard line again but doesn't try a pass. Lamar misses another field goal attempt. Northwestern St gets the ball back with about two minutes left. Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Lamar defense gives up another touchdown following a pass interference call that set Northwestern St up with a first and goal at the 9. Successful two point conversion cuts the lead to eight points. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 NW State scores but unable to get the onside kick. Lamar runs out the remaining time and LU wins! Quote
geezer Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Lamar recovers the on side kick attempt as the kick scoots out of bounds. Quote

Skinny1 Posted March 28, 2021 Author Posted March 28, 2021 I will take a win, anyway we can get one. Quote
puddin tane Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Good win couple things -I think Morgan went to the 4 corner offense a little early. -Chaz Ward is gonna be one giant bruise -D played very good early. For the most part, Morgan is finally playing the returning starters all game, instead of alternating em in and out every other series. - Oline got beat up. Harris and, I believe, Winans both left the game. - NW had the 2 worst qbs Ive seen in a long time. Quote

Noticed the last 3 series, QB stopped running or rolling out. Probably smart not to get him hurt with the back-ups on OL. Quote
