Lamar at ACU; 3PM start. Will this be another blowout or will the Cardinal squad that played a solid game against Sam show up and at least keep the game competitve?

Maybe with the simpler playbook and new found desire to "air it out" (LOL!!!), they will in fact actually be competitive. But the ACU starters will come in here with their ears peeled back thinking they are going to to have an easy time and early night and they can watch the second string in mop up duty for the second half.

Lamar received the opening kick off and moved the ball a little, including three incomplete passes. After the punt ACU goes 70 yards in three plays all on the ground.

After a couple of possessions by each team Lamar goes 70 yards (finished by a 46 yard run for Jones) for a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 with 14 minutes left in the first half.

Lamar holds ACU after the score and following the punt moves the ball to the ACU end of the field and Giffen makes a 54 yard field goal for Lamar to take a 17-14 lead. Edited by geezer

Halftime, Lamar holds a 17-14 lead. Through the first half Lamar has 104 yards rushing and 157 yards passing. ACU's starting quarterback went out at the 8:02 mark with a leg injury. So far the back up hasn't really been able to hit a pass to keep moving the chains. For what it is worth the backup was the starter last spring.

ACU goes 75 yards in ten plays following the 2nd half kickoff to retake the lead 21-17. A couple of big plays where Lamar failed to wrap up and tackle well. Lamar needs to respond.

Lamar fails on a 4th and one at the ACU 6 yard line. ACU moves the ball all the way down the field but fumbles at the Lamar six yard line. Cards go three and out punting back to ACU with 9:38 left in the game.

Lamar gets called for some kind of personal foul on the third play of the last drive that put them in a 3rd and 21 spot. Could not convert turning the ball over to ACU with just over a minute left. Cards had a chance in this game. Big surprise was 9-17 passing for 206 yards.

The coaches are slowly fixing their TOTAL stupidity; not running that damn flex bone veer crap nearly as much. We still ran the ball way too much but at least we appear to be realizing that the forward pass is not illegal

The personal foul was on James Jones, blocking out of bounds. He was way on the opposite side of the field far away from the play., Absolutely idiotic.

I am surmising from the posts of those who saw the game that there seems to be discernible improvement. For me, that is a good thing. The next step is consistency in improvement. If Morgan and staff can pull that off then we are on the road to better days!
