geezer Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Doesn't look like there is any live coverage of tonight's exhibition game and I would assume the same will be true for the women tomorrow. The schedule on the Lamar website doesn't show live stats, video or radio coverage at this point. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Hopefully, they will provide a write up after the game. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Just saw a post on Twitter (X) that had UST leading Lamar at halftime 36-35. Quote
geezer Posted November 2, 2023 Author Posted November 2, 2023 Just saw a post on Twitter (X) that had UST leading Lamar at halftime 36-35. Lamar struggled against St Thomas last year too. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 KFDM Sports just posted Lamar won 71-70. Does not sound too impressive. McNeese destroyed the team they played a few nights ago. I am a little worried about the Cowboys this season. Quote
geezer Posted November 2, 2023 Author Posted November 2, 2023 Last year Lamar won by two points 63-61. Not sure how many games St Thomas may have played already but they are a well coached team. I was hoping for better, but I'm not really surprised. Hope next Monday against Jarvis Christian is better. At least I think I'll be able to watch that one on ESPN+. Quote

geezer Posted November 2, 2023 Author Posted November 2, 2023 Wish we had some stats from last nights contest. The Lamar write up says Lamar shot 41% from the field, and 64% from the free throw line, but doesn't really show all of the individual stats. Three players in double figures, but not Lamar's turnovers, individual percentages or other things. What position did the player from St Thomas that scored 30 play and where did his points come from. I look forward to Monday's contest as I can watch it on my computer. Not as good as being there, but the best I can do from nearly 700 miles. Quote

geezer Posted November 2, 2023 Author Posted November 2, 2023 Nick Anderson a 6-4 guard from Houston is the player who scored 30 on the Cardinals last night. 10 of his points came from the free throw line. So does this mean Lamar still hasn't learned to defend the perimeter? Sure sounds like it, especially since three of the Lamar guards are returning from last years team. That doesn't give me much confidence for a better outcome for this season. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 I will be at the Jarvis Christian (NAIA) game. If Lamar does not beat them by 20 or more, I will not defend Coach Brooks any longer. Beating a DIII school in OT by one point is unacceptable. Quote
coachacola Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 OT win against a NAIA team? I don't care if this was an exhibition game, that doesn't bode well for the rest of the season. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 This is how you are suppose to beat inferior teams! Quote

PeckEm Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 OT win against a NAIA team? I don't care if this was an exhibition game, that doesn't bode well for the rest of the season. Totally agree. And they had a 16-0 run to start the game? Awful awful awful. Brooks is a great guy and a terrible head coach. We need to find him some type of administrative position. How bad do you think McNeese will beat us this year? 30+? Quote
