Basketball End of 23-24 Non Conference

Both men and women end their non-conference schedule at home tomorrow. Women tip off at 2 PM and men follow at 5 PM. I believe both are games that the teams should win and should be a good warm up for the conference openers next week.

Lady Cards down by eight after the first quarter. LMU 18 - Lamar 10 Cards opened the game not able to make a basket shooting 1-11 from the field over the first seven minutes roughly and falling behind before starting to crawl back.

2nd quarter scoring is equal as LMU maintains a ten point lead, 34-24. LMU has a significant size advantage overall, and are leading the rebounding by seven. Lamar has been shooting poorly from the field and it shows with the rebounds. LMU has shot eight free throws to two for Lamar.

Lamar out scores LMU in the third quarter to close the gap to a three-point deficit.

LMU gets called for traveling with 3.1 on the clock and with the timeout Lamar will inbound near half court. Denley hits a long three to take the lead with .4 left on the clock and play good defense to hang on for a 61-58 win. Big difference was Lamar forcing turnovers in the second half. Lamar forces fifteen more turnovers than they commit to make up for getting outrebounded by ten and out shot from the field by 10%. Great win for the ladies before heading into conference play next Thursday evening.

At the first media timeout Lamar is up by one point 9-8. Lamar shooting ok, but PQ is keeping up playing up tempo.

The Lamar players that should be forcing these guys off the three point line are trying to help double inside and are too slow to recover outside and no it doesn't appear Brooks wants to give up on the help defense.

Geez, McNeese beat Michigan by double digits. We are having trouble with Paul Quinn. The Cowboys are going to destroy the Cardinals this season.

PQ has thirteen three pointers in this game. SFA beat PQ 115-58 a week ago. The Tigers are now 1-7 on the season. I just am unimpressed with Lamar.
