geezer Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Both men and women will play twenty conference games this year. Cards will only play UNO and Southeastern La. once each. The conference will not be divided into divisions. For tie-breaking purposes the once only games will be important. Since it is difficult to get quality non-conference home games is it better to play more conference games and if so, why not play a full round robin of twenty-two games. Quote

D2 and D3 teams are good for November, if you can't get a decent opponent otherwise. But, yes, we need as many D1 teams on our schedule as possible. More importantly, we need to win. We're a 1-bid league so the guys need to impose their will over anyone they take the floor against. Quote

I think the SLC is only going with 20 games this season is because SFA was a rather late addition and some schools had already finished their non-conference schedules and the SLC didn't want them to have to cancel those games. I did read the conference will go with full home-and-home scheduling next season. I think McNeese ends the season with you and SFA. I also think, without checking, that both games (home and away) against LU are Saturday doubleheaders which should allow for big crowds. Awesome! Quote

I hope that is true that the SLC will play a full twenty-two game full round robin beginning next year assuming there is no more conference alignment changes. Hopefully all of the conference will commit to not playing more than one less than D-1 opponents and with the minimum number of non-conference games everyone can make that happen. Quote
