geezer Posted September 2 Posted September 2 VB, tough job to come into a program that is on the bottom. Hard to recruit because why would good players come. Soccer needs a win to get things started. It's still to early to tell what the true level of the competition has been so far. Quote

geezer Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I suppose the question is have both Volleyball and Soccer played tough enough competition to be prepared adequately for conference. We'll see starting this week. Quote
geezer Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Soccer sitting at 1-1-1 in conference play with a 4-0 win over Nicholls. The four goals ties for the most in a match this year and with the shutout the largest margin of victory. Hope this is an indication that Soccer is starting a streak toward the top, but Nicholls is last in the conference at 0-3 so far. Volleyball finished the opening weekend with a split and host current conference leader Commerce Thursday before traveling to last place Corpus on Saturday. Quote
puddin tane Posted October 7 Author Posted October 7 Well whodathunkit…volleyball, altho they lost last time out, is off to a good start (10-6/ 2-2 in conf). meanwhile, futbol is stinking it up. (3-6-3/ 1-2-1) one more vball win and they match the combined win total of the last 2 yrs! And Coach Apolinario is playing a bunch of freshman. lets go, ladies. Peck em! Quote
geezer Posted October 27 Posted October 27 One regular season soccer game left next friday and Lamar is currently tied for eighth place. It looks like a long distance from last year but what is missing for Lamar. Yes, it is hard to lose the best goalie in the conference, but Lamar isn't getting beaten badly per se. The Cards have only given up three goals once in conference play. In my opinion the difference is offense, the Cards just aren't scoring consistently. Quote
geezer Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Soccer ends the regular season with a tie versus UIW and a tie for seventh place in the conference standings. Cards will play Corpus in the first round of the conference tournament. Quote
geezer Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Somewhat disappointing soccer season comes to an end with a loss in the opening round of the conference tournament. Quote
geezer Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Volleyball defeated Nicholls in a five set match to improve the conference record to 5-8 and put an overall winning record and a position in the conference tournament in reach with three matches remaining two with McNeese and a repeat meeting with Nicholls. geezer Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Volleyball gets another five-set win over McNeese to get to 14-12 on the season and 6-8 in conference with a chance to finish .500 in the conference, Two matches next week on the road at McNeese and then Nicholls. Quote
geezer Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Volleyball closes out regular season with a win at Nicholls guaranteeing a winning record at 15-13 and 7-9 in conference. Cards will qualify for conference tournament. Quote
