geezer Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Week three opens Thursday evening with Northwestern St taking on FBS South Alabama. Probably a blowout win for South Alabama. Notable games this week include UIW versus Southern Illinois, Nicholls at Sacramento St and SELA versus Eastern Washington unless something happens to this game as a result of hurricane Franciene. For me Lamar versus Weber St is the game of the week. Conference play opens with SFA at McNeese. Quote
geezer Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 Through the first quarter of Northwestern St game. South Alabama scores on all four of their possessions for a 24-3 lead. It would be 28 but for a third and goal penalty on SA. Quote
geezer Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 Northwestern St. offense scores a touchdown on one big play but that is it for the rest of the game. The NWST defense could not stop South Alabama offense. Final score SA 87 - NWST 10 Quote
coachacola Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 South Alabama scored 87? That's embarrassing! 15 minutes ago, geezer said: Northwestern St. offense scores a touchdown on one big play but that is it for the rest of the game. geezer Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 Not sure what to think about Lamar this week. Texas St played Arizona St to a three-point loss and had chances to win it and defeated UTSA soundly last week which would make you think a little higher of Lamar, but last week Lamar probably should have won by a bigger margin and then there were all the penalties. Weber St is #25 in the FCS coaches poll, so it will take a strong effort for Lamar to get the win. Quote
redbird2002 Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 That was embarrassing for Northwestern. One can only hope last week was a case of playing down to the competition. I think the Cardinals are going to play a good game this weekend. Let’s get the win and get ranked! Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 SWT continues to make Lamar look good, now the question is can Lamar make Lamar look good. A win over Weber State would do that. Quote
geezer Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 SLC scores at the half of Lamar's game. HCU up solidly against a non-D1 program. SELA is tied with Eastern Washington. Commerce is tied with Grambling. UIW defense unable to stop Southern Illinois offense. UIW down by three touchdowns at the half. SFA and McNeese are scoreless in the second quarter. Quote
coachacola Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 The SLC needs to win these games or they're going to be a one bid league again. Quote
geezer Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 Lamar and SELA get home wins against Big Sky conference teams Weber St and Eastern Washington. Nicholls trailing Sacramento St 24-0 with two minutes left in the first half at Sacramento. UIW trailing at SIU by two scores with 6:42 left in that game but moving the ball into SIU territory, Quote
geezer Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 UIW rally comes up short. Final score SIU 35 - UIW 28. Grambling comes back on Commerce to tie the game and then win in overtime. SFA up by ten over McNeese with 12:18 left in the game. Quote
geezer Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 McNeese comes back on SFA and wins the game scoring three times in the fourth quarter. Quote
coachacola Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 LU and SLU had good wins but UIW and Nicholls (the top teams in the conference) had disappointing games. LU needs to prove itself against Central Arkansas in a couple of weeks to prove they are playoff worthy. Quote
