TexGator
We're hitting the home stretch of conference. We're at 2-1 while Southeastern is at 3-1. After a pair of bounce-back wins, it's time for the Cards to assert themselves as a top-tier team in the Southland and games like this are the start of it. So important that even I'm coming into town for it!!!
geezer
All four remaining games are most likely tough, but all look winnable. The reality is the Cards can go anywhere from 4-0 and conference champions to 0-4 and conference duds. Contenders or pretenders?

To push the team toward the 4-0 side, it starts this week.
TexGator
Looking at the numbers, so far, in conference. There are 4 tiers: Tier 1: SFA Incarnate Word, Lamar, Southeastern (all in the top 4 in offense and defense) Tier 2: TAMU-Commerce (5th in both) Tier 3: McNeese, Nicholls, Houston Christian (all 6th, 7th, or 8th in offense and defense) Tier 4: Northwestern State Call me crazy, but I care about SCORING offense and defense a lot more than yards. If you put up 500 yards of offense, but never put it in the end zone, you mean nothing to me... same for giving up 1000 yards, but you get a turnover or make a stand, when it counts. lu cards
It’s a must win. Hopefully we have a good crowd for this one.
TexGator
I'll be part of that crowd. Saw that there's a deal to get tickets to the last 2 home games... wish I could put what I paid for Saturday's tickets toward the deal- $48 for a pair of chairback seats for the other game! puddin tane
Hey gator. If so inclined, sit whetever you want. Nobody checks tickets. They should, but dont.
puddin tane
Weather still looks iffy. Hope the rain stays away. They change the forecast everyday. neither team really likes to air it out. Game has the southlands top 2 rushing leaders. That and 20mph winds. I expect a ground and pound game. Hell. Maybe over in 2 hours. ive heard sela fans are a tad pissed at scelfo. Got rid of oc and gave job to his son. sela has 5 losses, but theyve played a bitchin schedule. Cards really need a win (i hate admitting it, but watching last week…sela looked sharp in those bight gold unis. We looked like we picked up ours from goodwill. Will Big Red ever wear red)

They would probably check tickets if we sold more than 12k of them and they all showed up for the game. We are going to have to be a bit more exciting on offense, and win some games we are not supposed to for the attendance to pick up. The AD needs to get in Rossomando's ear about that. geezer
7-0Good start for the Cards. Lamar kicks off, then stops SLU. Receives the punt at their own 22 and drive the ball down the field for a touchdown run by Coleman to take the early lead 7-0 with 9:44 in the first quarter. geezer
Lamar continuing to play well overall, defense is stopping SLU and offense is moving the ball well, but Lamar has two turnovers with the second a pic six to put SLU on the board and tie the game at 7-7 at the 14:07 mark of the 2nd quarter. geezer
Cards score again with 2:20 left in the half to retake the lead at 14-7.
coachacola
LU may just win this game if they stop making mistakes.
TBonesLU
2 INTs? WTF!!
geezer
Lamar hasn't stopped making mistakes. After getting a field goal to extend the lead in the third quarter, SLU goes on a long drive to close the gap to 17-14. Then on the ensuing Lamar drive Coleman throws another interception setting SLU up for a go-ahead touchdown at the end of the quarter. Start of the fourth quarter Lamar trailing 21-17. geezer
Lamar changes quarterbacks for the drive after losing the lead. With Longino the Cards go three and out. Longino may be " a dual threat" but not really, he is a runner and has happy feet, not willing to wait for the receivers to get open. geezer
Longino hit Fuselier for a go-ahead touchdown with 1:18 left in the game down by three. Lamar 24 - SLU
geezer
SLU executes a good two-minute offense and ties the game up at 24 as the clock runs out. Lamar did get called for a pass interference that gave them an extra first down but my opinion I wouldn't call it a defensive mistake. geezer
Lamar is on offense first.
geezer
Lamar fails to get a touchdown, being forces to go for the field goal to take the lead and force SLU to score a touchdown to win. Unfortunately, SLU is able to get the touchdown to win the game.
LouisianaCardinal
What an absolute choke job by Rossomando. Dude is the definition of mediocre. At first I thought he was a decent coach, but I’m not fooled now. When is this university going to take football seriously? Most predictable offense I’ve ever seen. That game shouldn’t have been close👎
puddin tane
Id say we were outcoached again, but it did take scelfo a half to realize we dont cover the flats. this offense makes makes me wanna puke.
geezer
It's just my opinion, but I think Lamar's biggest problem and that includes at least in part coaching is that they have put to much emphasis on a dual threat quarterback that is a runner first. The only year Lamar was really successful was with Caleb Berry and he was a throwing quarterback that could run if he had too. Fortunately, he didn't have to on a regular base as Harrington took care of that. With the running backs that Lamar has now they shouldn't need the quarterback to run, but they do need him to make good decisions and be an effective passer. puddin tane
Rossomundo doesnt want to pass. He wants to run the ball and run the clock.
coachacola
LU beat themselves. Fumble was in the red zone. First interception was a pick 6. Instead of being up 10-0 or 14-0 it's tied 7-7. They don't have the talent to overcome mistakes.
