geezer Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Men open the conference season at Corpus Christi tomorrow at 7 PM. Corpus has a 5-3 record but it is hard to compare the schedules. Maybe the tough non-conference schedule will prove to help Lamar. Quote
geezer Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 Lamar down by nine at the half, 42-33. Turnovers the number one problem for Lamar, defense number two. Islanders shooting 55% from the field but haven't made a three pointer yet. Quote
geezer Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 Cards cut the lead down early in the half, then Corpus extended it back to eleven before Lamar slowly chipped away until Lamar got the lead with just under five minutes left. Lamar up by three points 60-57 with 4:07 left. Quote
geezer Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 Cards now up by two points 61-59 with a minute left and the ball in the front court. Lamar has twenty seconds on the shot clock. Quote
geezer Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 Hamilton fouls out with 16 seconds left, the Cards up by four and CC shooting free throws. Quote
geezer Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 Lamar wins 65-61. Lamar had four more turnovers than Corpus but Corpus failed to make a three point shot the entire game and only shot 56.5 % from the free throw line. Also their second half field goal percentage was down in the low 30s. Quote
geezer Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 Cardinals will return to action Saturday afternoon at UTRGV with a 4:30 start time. Quote
Cardinalrule Posted December 7 Posted December 7 Very good game by the cards. Really look like MAYBE they are shoring up their defense, playing better sound fundamental defense and not taking so many risks. On offense it looks like they are FINALLY trying to go through the post more. We shall see if this continues Quote
