geezer Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Lamar women return to SLC action Thursday at 7PM versus UIW. Cards won their opening conference game in December before closing out the non-conference schedule and taking a long Christmas break. Quote
geezer Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Ladies open like they never took any time off with a 21-7 first quarter. Cards shoot 64% from the field and lead in rebounding. Only rusty spot is turnovers where the Cards have two more than UIW. Quote
geezer Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Lamar up 41-15 at the half. Second quarter was almost a repeat of the first quarter 20-8. Quote
geezer Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 UIW outscore Lamar by one in the third quarter as Lamar's shooting percentage falls and UIW starts hitting some shots. Lamar still committing way too many turnovers as they now have twenty-one for the game. Quote
geezer Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 UIW outscores Lamar in the second half but are unable to overcome the first half deficit. Lamar improves to two and zero in conference play one game back of Southeastern who has won their first three conference games. Final score LU 69 - UIW 47 Quote

geezer Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Lamar up 76-43 going into the fourth quarter. Quote
geezer Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Final score 94-52 Lamar on top. Cards hold UNO to single digits in the first and fourth quarters. With big wins, it is kind of picky to look for negatives, but the coaches will, so free throw percentage was lower than normal, and first half turnovers. Ladies will take on SFA Saturday afternoon beginning at 3 PM. Quote
geezer Posted January 11 Author Posted January 11 Tight first half with Lamar up by two points, 34-32. Lamar shooting better from the field, but SFA has eight more free throws made than Lamar. Lamar took pretty good care of the ball with only six turnovers. Quote

geezer Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 Women play at Nicholls tonight with a 6:30 PM tipoff. Quote
geezer Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 Tough first half finds Lamar down three 31-28. Cards got out to an eight-point lead but then stalled out. Nicholls came back with a 9-2 run to take the lead at the end of the first quarter. Davis picked up two fouls in the first quarter, only playing about seven minutes of the half. Davis and Dean only have two points each only scoring from the free throw line. Quote
geezer Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 After three quarters the Cards lead 55-40. Davis played five minutes before picking up her third foul and helped get Lamar going with sound defense and her rebounding. When she went out Lamar kept building the lead and playing solid defense holding Nicholls to nine points for the quarter. Quote
geezer Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 Lamar wins 67-53. Nicholls outscored Lamar by one point in the fourth quarter, but part of that was that the Cards obviously slowed down their offensive intensity and therefore did not get the same quality of shots that they got during the third quarter. Dean led the way with nineteen points, followed by Denley with thirteen and Taylor with ten. Quote
geezer Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 Ladies keep things going with a with 68-52 win over McNeese in Lake Charles. Quote

This game features the last two undefeated teams left in the conference race. This game is doubly critical as it will be the only meeting between these two teams before the conference tournament and will likely determine the number one seed. Go Lady Cards. Quote
