SLU has the big third quarter that Lamar usually gets as they extend the half time lead to fourteen-points 48-34.  Lamar will really need a strong quarter to come back in this game.

Lady Cards are unable to make a comeback falling by twelve-points 60-48.  Unless something happens SLU should be the regular season champ as they will have to drop two contests for Lamar to get past the tie breaker.

Ladies return to action Thursday February 6th with a 7 PM home tipoff against Corpus Christi.  Lamar won the first meeting but must overcome two straight losses and get back on the winning path to maintain a two-game lead over the third-place teams.

Ladies win a hard-fought game against A&M CC.  The Islanders kept it close most of the night before the Cards built a nine-point lead in the third quarter and got the lead to as high as twelve.  Then the Islander forced some turnovers to close the gap to as small as three in the last few minutes of the game.  Over the last minute the two teams traded points with the Islanders getting field goals and the Cards hitting clutch free throws.  Final score 63-57

Correction to earlier post, this was the first meeting of the year for the ladies versus A&M CC.  They will meet again to close out the year.

Saturday February 8th with the Cards taking on UTRGV finds the Cards down by eight points at the half 31-23.  Abnormally slow start for the Cards getting out shot, out rebounded and allowing RGV to shoot to many free throws.

Cards make a valiant comeback in the fourth quarter, but RGV makes the last basket with three seconds on the clock to upset Lamar 58-56.

Ladies are at Northwestern St on Thursday evening.  Started out slow falling behind by twelve 20-8 at the end of the first quarter.  Davis got in foul trouble and sat much of the first half.  NWST was up by ten at the half 29-19.  Lamar has come out with new energy in the third quarter and with 5:34 left in the quarter have tied the game at 31.  Davis has picked up her third foul, but two of NWST's top players have picked up their third fouls also.

Lamar continued their good play finishing the game with a 58-46 win.  A question is if there is something wrong with the Davis.  She picked up her third foul about mid-way in the third quarter and then didn't return until late in the fourth quarter.

Saturday February 15th at ET A&M.  Cards win 71-57 in an early start time game.  Cards have strong first and third quarters, second quarter was tight with ET outscoring the Cards by one.  ET also outscored the Cards in the final quarter, but Lamar pulled most of it's starters during the quarter.  Davis played like you would expect ending the game with eighteen points and thirteen rebounds.  Cards next action will be Thursday at UIW.

Lamar wins at HCU.

Looks like the women will be the 2 seed in the conference tournament.  The men are also on track to be the 2 seed in their conference tournament.

Nicholls plays better offense in the second quarter scoring twelve points, but Lamar keeps the pressure on scoring fourteen points to take a 32-17 lead into the half.  Taylor went out with a knee injury in the second quarter and Denley picked up her second foul and sat out the latter part of the quarter.

Nicholls manages to trim three off of the Lamar lead in the third quarter 46-34.  Taylor hasn't played since going out with the injury.

Lamar wins 68-49 to secure their third straight twenty-win season.  Davis ends the game with eighteen points and thirteen rebounds to lead the Cards.  This leaves Davis six short of the all-time Lamar total rebound records. Lamar has two games left for the regular season with McNeese on Saturday to close out the home season and then travel to Corpus next Wednesday to finish the regular season.

McNeese plays a gritty game but Lamar finishes with the win 69-60.  One game left for the Lamar women at Corpus Christi on Wednesday.

Lamar up by nineteen at the half.  Cards open with a five-point lead after the first quarter and then have one of their blow out quarters in the second to lead 37-18 at the half.  Taylor is playing tonight so she should be good for the tournament next week.
