coachacola Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 Didn't the pitching coach move on to Baylor after last year? Seems like the pitching isn't as good this year. Quote
geezer Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Lamar did change pitching coaches this year and I would agree that especially the second-tier pitching isn't as consistent as it was last year. But on the other end of the scale batting average is up overall. Quote
geezer Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Lamar takes game one of the series with SLU 5-0 and now are only one game out in the loss column. Game two is tomorrow at 6 PM. Quote
geezer Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Cards had the bases loaded in both the first and second innings but could not get a run across and wind up falling 4-0 in the second game of the series with SLU. The loss along with the results of the other games today drops Lamar back into fourth place and with just four conference games remaining very little chance of moving up to second for a host site in the tournament. Quote
geezer Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Lamar drops game three of the series with SLU and now has ten losses in SLC play. With three conference games remaining the best Lamar can do is fourth place and will need to win at least two of three against HCU and win at least the same number of games in the final series as Northwestern St does in their final series to hold on to fourth place. geezer Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Cards play Texas close until the bottom of the eighth. The score was 4-2 at the end of seven and Lamar got a home run from Skinner to close the gap to one, but Lamar pitching ran out of gas in the bottom o the inning giving up five runs to fall by a final of 9-5. Cards will close out the regular season with a three game series at home against HCU beginning Friday at 6 PM. Cards need a sweep to guarantee the fourth seed. Quote
lu cards Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Looking for the sweep today over HCU ! What a comeback by Lamar last night. I turned it off after they gave up lead in the 9th inning. Missed a great finish. Go get #40 today cards !!!!!! Quote
geezer Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Lamar sweeps HCU to capture 3rd place in the regular season. Bad news is they travel to UTRGV for the first round of the conference tourney and get a fourth straight game against HCU in double elimination play to see if they can get to the championship series. Quote
geezer Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Apparently Lamar doesn't play well in Edinburg. After dropping yesterday's opening game the Cards are down 6-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning making five errors so far on the day in their second game. Quote
geezer Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Cards baseball season is over with a disappointing performance in the conference tournament. Cards lost to AMCC 12-5 in the elimination game. Quote
coachacola Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 They need better pitching, that's for sure. Their relatively easy schedule made them appear better than they actually were. Quote
