NorthoftheBorder Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Hey guys, I have been lurking on the site without logging in. Trying to not overreact to last week’s win, but feeling better than I did after week one. Really interested to see how McCown performs! Quote
geezer Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Lamar is up 21-7 with 13:37 left in the first half. The Cards have a fumble recovery on a dropped snap by the TSU punter for a TD and a blocked punt return for a TD as well as an eight-play drive for a McCown TD run. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Sometimes it takes an injury to find a really good player caught up in the depth chart politics. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Just now, NorthoftheBorder said: Sometimes it takes an injury to find a really good player caught up in the depth chart politics. Hopefully that is what happens here with McCown Quote
geezer Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Lamar makes another good drive ending with Moore touchdown run with under a minute left in the half to take a 28-7 lead into halftime. Quote
geezer Posted September 14 Posted September 14 No scoring in the third quarter but Lamar gets a field goal at the 14:45 mark early in the fourth quarter. Quote
geezer Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Cards win 31-7. I would say McCown had a decent game and overall managed the game well. His passing wasn't anything special, but it was his first real extended opportunity. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Good to get the victory in a game that wasn’t close. Central Ark will be a big test on how we are progressing. 1 Quote
lu cards Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 We took care of business and now we get two weeks to prepare for Central Arkansas. Thought McCown looked decent and can see him really progressing as the season goes. Curious to see who get the next start at Qb ? Quote
lu cards Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 Central Ark is getting destroyed by Tarleton st 56-7 Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted September 14 Posted September 14 I am moving toward optimism for the 2025 season. We really don’t know yet how good the South Dakota win is and how good we are or can be. But with what I think I know, we are moving in the right direction. I would like to see McCown get the next start to see if he is going to be consistent and a better field general than Coleman. I like the red helmets! Quote
redbird2002 Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Yes. Nice to not play down to the competition. Maybe North Texas is better than we thought. The Central Arkansas game should be interesting. Despite their loss to Tarleton, it's a better program than TSU. It would be another measure game against a peer before going into conference play. Quote
TexGator Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Glad that the Cardinals made the game was "getting late early" for the Tigers. Other than the one series where TSU scored, the defense really stepped up and made sure it was obvious we were the better team. Honestly, more than the final score (since the offense didn't need to do much in the 2nd half), I liked how they played like they knew they were the better team. We could have executed better but there was no reason to do too much. They knew they had 2 weeks to prep for UCA so there was no reason to do anything more than just get the win. We don't need style points against a team that had already lost to Prairie View. Quote
