Football Week 5 Lamar Game 4 versus UCA

Featured Replies

Lamar comes off of its bye week to face Central Arkansas.  UCA sits at 1-3 with losses to Missouri, Tarleton State and Sacramento State and a win over Arkansas Pine Bluff.  This looks like a prove that LU can be a contender game.  Both Lamar and UCA have wins over a SWAC opponent and at this point in the season it is still hard to compare the other opponents except by national ranking.  It would appear that Lamar has the advantage, but the Cards still need to prove it on the field.  Game time is 6 PM this Saturday.

I watched the video of Rossomando's press conference today and he indicated that Coleman probably won't be ready to go until the Nicholls game.

If you wanna be a playoff team you have to win this game. 3-1 start would get the fans interested and hopefully translate into some big crowds duriing conference.

Give me LaDamion McDowell as the feature back!!

Hopefully McCown takes another step… looking forward to a (Mc)Bright young duo!!

This would be a good win if we can get the “W” tonight.

the North Texas loss isn’t looking as bad, 5 wins into the season.

Early in the game, Lamar defense forces a three and out, get a good punt return and score in three plays for an early 7-0 lead.

Lamar basically repeats the first possession forcing a quick stop and a quick touchdown for 14-0 lead with 9:52 left in the first quarter.

UCA changes quarterbacks on their third possession and makes a ten-play drive resulting in a touchdown to narrow the gap.

UCA stops Lamar with a three and out on Lamar's third possession and have another scoring drive to bring the score to 14-4 at almost the end of the first quarter.

UCA kicks a field goal with 9:40 left in the first half to take a 17-14 lead.  The Cards will have to step up and respond.  Offense needs to get back to what they did correctly on their first two possession and the defense needs to figure out how to stop the Bears after the change in quarterbacks.

Lamar recovers a fumble with 3:42 left in the half and takes the ball down the field for a go ahead touchdown with about a minute left.  Lamar 21 - UCA 17

Lamar receives the 2nd half kick off and executes a 1:56 second drive to extend the lead to 28 - 17 on a pass from McCowan to Thomas.  Defense needs to make a stop.

Does anyone know why the clock was stopped between UCA's last third and fourth downs?  The receiver was stopped in bounds.

A win is a win no matter how ugly.  Next up Nicholls who have a big conference win over UIW and have played two FBS and two FCS schools for non-conference games that have all been losses.  Hard to figure what kind of match up this game will be.
