NorthoftheBorder Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Where is everybody? Big game to open conference! A win would be great momentum and further progress toward being a top 25 FCS program. Big question is who will start at QB? Quote
puddin tane Posted October 3 Posted October 3 We gotta do something on offense. We are currently #124 in the nation in total offense (out of 126 teams). Nicholls is #117. game might finish 3-0 in OT Quote
lu cards Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Big game for sure. If you’re a playoff contender you have to win this one. Hoping 3 pm kickoff doesn’t keep fans away. Quote
geezer Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I don't have any insider information, but even though I think I would prefer McCowan, I expect it to be Coleman that starts the game. Quote

geezer Posted October 4 Posted October 4 McCowan starting at QB for Lamar and Lamar gets the opening possession. McCowan completes an 85-yard pass and catch to Blake Thomas for a one play touchdown to take a very early 7-0 lead. Puddin should like this. 1 Quote
geezer Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Nicholls comes back with an elven play 88-yard drive to tie the game with 9:10 left in the first quarter. Quote
geezer Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Lamar defense hasn't been able to stop Nicholls in the first quarter and the quarter ends with Nicholls up 14-7. Quote
geezer Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Lamar goes on an eleven play 80-yard drive ending in a three-yard run by McCowan to tie up the game with 7:22 remaining in the half. Quote
geezer Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Cards play continues to improve on the day with Lamar getting another 2nd quarter stop against Nicholls offense and then going on a long drive ending with a field goal with 2:28 left in the half. Quote
TBonesLU Posted October 4 Posted October 4 What an unimpressive crowd…Beaumont has never been able to get people to games (Golden Gators, LU football, championship hockey). We have a top 20 team in the nation and because it’s not UT, people don’t care. Also, can someone tell the ESPN broadcasters that it’s McCown, not McCowan? Didn’t think it would last 2 games, but here we are. Looking for a good 2nd half! Quote
geezer Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Lamar has 278 total yards of offense in the first half with 226 in the air and 52 on the ground. Still a little inconsistent as two big plays make up more than half of the passing yards. Nicholls got 227 yards in the first half and will get the ball first in the second half. Quote
coachacola Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I think the main issue with attendance is that LU cannot sustain good teams. Basketball consistently had good crowds when they were consistently winning. Having a couple of good seasons then completely sucking for years would kill almost any fan base. Quote

That’s fair, but Beaumont is notoriously bad at attending sporting events, regardless of the teams’ success. You’d think a national ranking and being in the process of back-to-back winning seasons would get people to the stadium. Someone else mentioned the Oktoberfest being today as well. That’s dumb planning by the city. Quote
coachacola Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Well I do agree with you about Beaumont not supporting it's teams. It's definitely not a college town. Quote
lu cards Posted October 4 Posted October 4 All you have to do is win consistently and they’ll will come ! Quote
geezer Posted October 4 Posted October 4 With 3:36 left in the game Fusilier makes an 88-yard punt return for a touchdown to give Lamar a 24-17 lead. Quote
geezer Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Lamar gets the win. Cards wind up with 337 yards of offense, although the majority of that came in the first half. Nicholls had 348 yards of total offense. Lamar will travel to East Texas A&M next week. Glad Lamar got this win. Quote
